Im not going to write much untill I get some pictures.

Basically I found a 89' turbo 5 speed, 100% original silver paint, no rust, gray interior, non TEMS rotting in a corn field.

This thing even had the original "Warning, turbo charged engine shut down information..." sticker on the driver's door.

The bad?

-Mice make every thing NOT nice (more on this later)
-Had to get keys made
-Tires are shot
-Engine is a JDM unit, unknown if it suffers from RK or BHG
-Needs spark plug wires and just about every thing rubber under the hood
-R154 feels funny
-Unknown clutch condition

The good?

-No rust
-Almost mint condition outside
-Once the interior was removed, the inside metal is mint
-Car only has 122,xxx miles on it
-Nice TRW 17" rims
-We saved another supra
-Awesome project

The future?
-Gutted interior DONE
-Clean interior ON ITS WAY
-Install the interior ON ITS WAY
-New carpet (black) PURCHASED, ON ITS WAY
-New seats or recover the current mouse house THINKING...
-Check engine for BHG / RK ON ITS WAY
-550's LOOKING...

-AFPR PURCHASED, ON ITS WAY
-Walbro 255 PURCHASED, ON ITS WAY
-BOV PURCHASED, ON ITS WAY
-Aftermarket IC from driftmotion LOOKING....
-Holset HE351/HY35 turbo PURCHASED, CURRENTLY REBUILDING
-Custom Greddy Header ALREADY HERE
-4" exhaust, no mufflers GOTTA BUILD IT
-Open WG dump tube GOTTA BUILD IT
-PRO Sport Custom Gauges PURCHASED, ON THEIR WAY
-Red (not painted) Glass bulbs for dash cluster PURCHASED, ON THEIR WAY
-Clean intake manifold GOTTA DO IT
-Clean intake plennum GOTTA DO IT
-Clean VB GOTTA DO IT
-Rid the car of any emissions DONE
-Clean radiator GOTTA DO IT
-Install new rubber under hood PURCHASED ON THEIR WAY
-New spark plugs DONE
-New rubber for the wheels THINKING...
-Having the rims powdercoated dark bronze THINKING....
My plan is to finally put the Holset diesel program to use, prove that its the mean SOB of a turbo that I know it is, and put all the bitch fests of DIESEL VS GAS turbos to rest.

Shooting for 400-450hp. We'll see. No promises. If she blows, it will get rebuilt with built internals.

It's just a little rat shit Jon. That's got to be a small price to pay for a great looking supra when you get done. Hopefully the car will smell more like potpourri instead of pooop when you get done..............:biglaugh:

A little progress since Ive been working silly hours at the full time job.

-Got 90% of all the mouse disaster taken care of
-Engine is coming out tonight. ARPS & a MHG going in
-Got my hard pipes done (not installed) and my intercooler arrived
-I have a giant pile of shiney new parts
-Need to get the drivers door lock fixed
-Cleaned up & repaired the main wiring harness. I need to finish soldering the injector wires on.
-Got my 550's cleaned and balanced
-Walbro fuel pump still hasn't showed up

Now for my giant dilema:

Do I go big or just go home?

HY35 (HE351CW)
Flows 60.85 lbs/min
9cm exhaust housing
T3 non divided inlet
4" Down pipe

HX52
Flows 99.25 lbs/min
16cm exhaust housing
T4 divided inlet
4" Down pipe


So do I put the giant monster on and feel the rush from 4500-6500rpms? Or do I put on the little turbo that could and feel instant power from 2800-6500?

Typically, the hx40 is a lag monster due to its large exhaust housing and smallish turbine.

The hx40 will really perform if you have a Bullseye housing, but other than that its a LAG O MATIC.

i like the idea of the smaller one to get use out of it through the gears, but what are your plans? dyno queen, daily driver, track slut? glad to see some more progress on this project jon. maybe i'll have to come back to chicago just to see this car. but that is a long ass drive.

I really haven't decided what this dirty little bit#$#$es life is going to be lol.

As for you coming up to Chicago - you know you can always fly???? You can roll with me man. :) Just make sure you bring Puddin with you. LOL!
