Found this little gem the other day for a price I couldn't say no to. (I'll get pics up tomorrow)

The engine is locked up, but it came from a one owner garage, who bought the car new in 1986.

Mostly garage kept. White exterior, maroon interior. 90% awesomeness inside. A few cracks from years of sun.

The paint can be saved.

I would say it has less than 1% rust on the entire car. The small few spots on the body that I can see, could be rubbed off with some scotch bright or some steel wool & paint.

Any one know how rare this thing is, being a turbo TWO DOOR 626?

I found another turbo engine for this car, but its from an 88 / 89 turbo mx6. I *think* it should be compatible....

I guess, if any one on the boards here is a Mazda nut, and wants to trade me for a supra, I'll gladly accept.

Also, just picked up an 89 2.2 turbo engine & trans for this today. :) Stroker time!

nice, havent seen one before, though it kinda resembles an older mustang/escort...

Indeed. Interesting little car too. Only weights around 2600 lbs. I can push it all by myself, unlike the fat pig of a mk3.

I never knew they made that car in a turbo model either

I knew they made a four door, but never a two door 626. I later found out in 1989 (?) the two doors became the mx-6 turbo.

I think they share engines with the Probe GT Turbos, and junkyards are littered with those...

You would think right? Haven't been able to find crap around here.... but yes you are right. They did share the engines with turbo probes.

Nice old GT! It's a GC coupe. I don't know about the US, but around here they are fairly rare. The engine is a FE/T 2.0 8v turbo, and not the same as the F2T found in the MX-6 and the Probe. The F2T should be a straight fit though.

You might find some usefull info here: http://www.mazda626.net/forum/25-other-626s/
