MAXX intercooler leaking...fix?

I have a MAXX IC that has several leaks where the end tanks are attached. Has anyone ever cut off end tanks and rewelded them? Is this even possible or should I just get a new one? Also does anyone know what the MAXX ICs are made of as far as what kind of core they are(greddy, spearco, etc.)

Not sure on the core, but I believe you can cut, and re-weld. There is a local shop here in town that does it. Not sure how much it would cost though.

I could be wrong though.

why not just identify where the leak is and patch weld it

I would just run a few beads over where its leaking....

Heres an idea...put two homemade boost leak teaters(the instructions for the testers http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19718) on each end, then submerge it in water, apply some airpressure and find the leaks, highlight the leak areas w/ a sharpie and take it to be TIG welded in those areas.

Might have to be washed out with paint thinner before welding though.
