Does anyone know the maximum boost a stock 7mgte motor can handle without having to replace a lot of the internals?

Ok dont mess with the boost until youve replaced the head gasket (MHG preferably) then make sure your car is running damn near perfect. But most of the guys here will probably tell you either boost it till it breaks, or dont touch the boost until you have supporting mods for it.

My friends car is completelty stock and he runs about 9 lbs. If that helps at all

Damn! Sorry i had the ratio of torque output from 7m to 1j in mind. :sarcasm:

Boost is a measure of resistance to flow, Boost has no direct relation to horsepower or torque output of an engine. Therefore this question unless numerous unknowns are filled in is impossible to answer.

how is that not a technical question, obviously a motor can only handle so much pressure until rings and other internals blow. This is my first turbo experience with this car, so if you don't want to answer this question because you think its dumb or lacks experience then just hit the back button on your browser. I'm just asking because I know things can easily get messed up if not placed in conjunction with other parts, that and I'm trying to gain knowledge on the subject.

search(not being a jerk) there is a thread floating around somewhere with an "order" of mods and boost levels with those mods. also, many people have posted what mods they have and the boost they are running just look around. hopefully that helps, if you still have trouble then post. in my experience everyone here is pretty helpful. however, no one is going to want to help someone who hasnt tried researching first(if you have then disregard that) and as someone else already posted, it depends what mods you have to decide what boost is a good level for you particular set up. every motor is different. there is no "this amount of boost is the best". first thing you need to do is mhg and arps, or at least a stock hg with arps. then intake and exhaust and so on.

You talking to me? If you are, you are missing a very important point...I am a moderator for the Tech sections. I don't hit the back button...might want to think about that.

Plus, the following explains it pretty well:

Basically you are asking for guesses and/or opinion. Tech questions are based on fact...by definition, there is no way this can be answered from a tech perspective.
And, your opinion doesn't mean squat in this case.

If you want to "gain knowledge", try reading/searching before you ask. The Articles forum is full of info.

i must say, that having your post moved does suck, especially if you THINK its in the right place. i wasnt too happy about you moving one of my posts before but it happens so i thought about it and it made sense to me. maybe the OP will do the same in this case

not that the actual "moving" sucks, but being told striaght up "your wrong" lol

Yes I was speaking to you that much was obvious. You don't have to feel like your authority was being challenged

That wasn't the intent of me expressing my response to your response, and besides, as a "Tech Moderator" you should enjoy your job enough to explain things to people and making things understandable for people. I thought the forum was to seek advice and help, not compete in a knowledge race with others.

I started the thread and in my opinion what I was asking for could be answered based on experience not on fact. Plenty of technical information has been derived from facts that were accumulated through experience. I figured there were people on here that had already tuned boost on a stock 7mgte at one point or another in there "Supra Experience". I'm not planning on even uping the boost on my car, I am merely trying to get a feel for boundaries and limits with my car being as how I'm new with it. One thing that I am guilty of though is not searching things all the time before posting threads about them. I will fix this in the future as questions will arise, and I do apologize for not doing that in this instance.
