hey all, gotta get new tires soon and i'm definitely going with the yokohama avs es100's. they carry the stock size, 225/50r16's in addition to 225/45r16's and 245/45r16's.

searched and couldn't find anything, should i go with a stock 225 width, or will the sawblades hold a 245 ok? out of the three, which is the best choice? will the 245s rub on an otherwise stock car?

Gotoyota had 245 on his blades so they would fit. Maybe stagger it with 225/50 in front and 245/45 in the rear.

meh id just run the same front and rear on the stockers. this way you can at least rotate front and rear (if asymeterical) i thought ive seen 255s but i do know 245s work.

I don't think 255's would be a very stable tire on the stock rims... Too wide iirc.

I got 255' on the rear for year and a half now ... on sawblades of course ... quite ok in my opinion

I run stock painted sawblades with Goodyear F1 G3's 245/50-16 on all four corners set psi at 36, and I think they are absolutely awesome. I dont feel the sidewall flex is issue with my setup. I have ST sways bar front and rear with poly busings. Stock ride height. Stock awesome working TEMS so I cruise smooth on surface streets then push a button for a firm ride when going over 60mph gotta love the Supra. If you go to the Goodyear site it will show you maixmum tires sizes for specif size rims on all thier tires.
I wanted more height so I could make it across an intersection before having to shift into second gear. I love this size tire and it's pretty much the maximum size that fits on the stock 16X7 rim. the other benifit is my sidewalls aern't splayed out allowing anything I run over to poke a whole in them, I prefer a tread width that matchs the rim width, as oppsoed to the track mentality of tread width about 4 inches narrower than the rim. LOL

I'd just go 225/50's all around. Cheaper, better gas mileage, better tire wear, fit the rim better, and you have the ability to rotate. How much power are you running? I've got a bpu 1j and I'm running 225's in the rear and I think it's fine. So unless you're runnin a big single, imo 225 is enough.

u aren't losing traction in 1st gear? my brothers bpu 1jz loses traction in 1st on 225's... Maybe his is just a healthier 1jz cause he has it rebuilt? Iunno but they are brand new 225's on the rear from one of my old set of blades which i didn't end up using.

On the sawblades, 245/50/16's will be 1" taller (1/2" rim to road), and 1" wider (again 1/2" on each side), than stock 225/50/16.

Been their, done that. Worked real nice for cornering. I don't believe in rotating tires, so the 245's on rear only worked.

Went back to 225's, when I wore the backs out to soon. Put the new 225's on the front. I have an N/A (with mods and such), and only 225 hp. That 1" taller was a noticeable loss of torque at launch.:icon_evil

I have not had to rotate the tires once, last set went all the way with no rotation. BUT I learned years ago, at $150.00 a tire, burning expensive rubber off your tires just dont make sense.

My car wears the tires evenly, as I keep it aligned.:icon_bigg

But....It seems to wear out the back ones twice as fast as fronts.:biglaugh:

Could it be....my right foot is heavier than the left???

signed, concerned.:aigo:

I have those, the yokohama avs es100, in stock size. They have been good. I am considering the Fuzion ZRi next. I've seen good reviews on those.
