i was just wondering what range of hp i can expect w/out needing to replace the stock internals. i plan to rebuild my motor soon (150000mi= not good), including a mhg, but should i buy forged internals. im on a budget and my goal is 450bhp.

I hope your budget allows for quite a bit of money b\c 450whp is a little pricey... I mean it's doable... my hp goals are 450 with my current setup on med. boost...

450whp is minimal in cost because you can still do it on an upgraded ct26...once you go with non-bolt on t4 turbos, the game changes

"the Z06 is only 200lbs lighter"

Its actually closer to 500 pounds lighter. 3100 vs 3600.

I have been runnning mid 400'srwhp for a while, probably closer to 500rwhp now with no issues on stock internals. If I had to rebuild, I would definantly go with some forged pistons. I would also probably install eagle rods and rod bolts too although I don't know if I would ever need them.

With my new setup, I should be pushing 550rwhp easily this spring. I don't plan on any engine rebuilds so we will see how it takes it. I'm betting it will handle it with ease.

7m-gte does not have forged pistons stock. It has a lower CR, and piston squirters. 7m also has oil feed and return lines for a turbo

So what your saying is, they are completely alike(minus the CR and piston squirters), so turboing a 7mge is easier than I expected? Interesting...

Exactly. The folks who drop in turbos on top of a GE usually just snag a wiring harness from the GTE, new coils / igniter / CPS / ECU / etc... and bolt everything on.

I must search for a write-up...you know any good one's right off hand?

well you have to figure the mods and how much they'll cost... and upgraded ct is going to run cheap $500, then you'll need injectors $250(used), some sort device that fools your ecu that your getting more air (lex afm, maft ($250 used)), then you'll need a mbc which could range anywhere from 10-35bux and then after you blow thta ct at 450 you'll need a new turbo... it's possible on a low budget but if your going to do it, do it right... I mean some people have had their ct's at that hp and had them last... I just know with my experiece with those ct's is that they are junk... and that could be that I just got some junk turbo's but who knows... I've got that to4e now:evil2: :biglaugh: :evil2:

EDIT: I forgot exhaust... you'll need exhaust to hit that 450hp... and probably an intake... hardpipes wouldn't hurt... thats just more money... it's a pricey thing to mod a car... I know b\c I caught the mod bug...lol

when you say "snag a wiring harness from the gte" what wiring harness do you mean? cut it? or pull it out? Sorry if I'm confused, I have a friend down in Texas getting me stuff cheap from a yard.

The ECU and engine side wiring harness. NO CUTTING.

I don't know of a writeup offhand, I do know that the doc's site has a parts list... dig through http://www.4cefed.com to find it.

this what your talking about as in wiring harness?

...the friend of mine down in tx that doing the shopping for me said he's not really interested in pulling all this out...plus I don't know what's all involved as far the the harness goes(not sure if the above link includeds what you call ecu and engine side wiring harness)...
