i was just wondering what range of hp i can expect w/out needing to replace the stock internals. i plan to rebuild my motor soon (150000mi= not good), including a mhg, but should i buy forged internals. im on a budget and my goal is 450bhp.
This is so old. What does horsepower limit have to do with starving a bearing of oil? How about nothing. Maybe you could say RPM, but not with our redline.rods knocks will occur since thats also a problem with our cars.....

I always try to leave a good margin of head room.

As I always say, go take a 500 WHEEL HORSE POWER car for a "spin" and come back later.
The stock 7mgte block ( properly rebuilt of course ) can handle MORE horsepower at the WHEELS than the brand new Z06 has at the motor!!!
Just think about it......with 450whp the Zo6's performance......yeah....and dont bring up the "weight" discussion....the Z06 is only 200lbs lighter

I'll crave more power...and slowly work up to that power the safe way. I hope to have 350-400hp eventually and be running 12's before going crazy with turbo's and huge goals. But I'm not gonna blow headgaskets and get knock for turning up the boost without the right precautions. I wish some people wouldn't just think "I want an 800hp car" and have no need for that power, or want the power by cutting corners.
