As stated i am interested in removing the restrictive AFM, in favor of a GM MAP sensor. also so i can run a BOV...... i love that sound it's almost orgasmic. :icon_bigg Yea it's kinda a stupid reason to change over, so sue me. any ways i heard that something as simple as SAFC will allow this to happen at least with the BOV but i really due want to rid the car of the afm. so any suggestions???

map ecus get rid of the AFM all together, not put in a GM maf. and to the origional question, i would go through powerhouseracing or titan. powerhouse also has the PnP harness for the map, and then all you need to do is run a vac line from the intake mani to the map ecu. i used a PnP harness on a MKIV and it was cakewalk, once we got the vac line into the interior.

why not just go maft-pro, everyone seems to like that better

edit: i run a ssqv and vent it to the atmosphere on a stock ecu/afm.. no problems whatsoever

I love my maf-t pro. I was waiting to hook it up to fix a prob. I was having hitting cut at 5k rpm's It started getting really bad this weekend so I desided I would hook it up an bam prob. solved. also solved my idle on hot restart prob.

I have not updated and the only prob. I am having is a very slight rpm drop when I hit the gas.

My mk4 has a map-ecu on it though i have not driven the car yet so i can't tell you much about it.

Well I jsut checked titan, no go on the ecu's i didn't see any. aslo I should have mentioned that my car is an 87 turbo 5 speed and power house racing only carries for 89+........... so am i screwed or what????

it will work in a pre 87 you might just have wire it your self or pay someone else to do it.

Well wiring is not a problem, I'm a mechanic for a living and ASE in the electronics section :naughty: i'm just lazy and a PnP harness would be very helpful. also who can verify that a map ecu will work on the pre 89's any one else got one???

so, what exactly is the easiest, most reliable to get rid of the stock AFM? what if you use a Lexus AFM? any differences?

Easiest and most reliable don't go hand in hand.

Most reliable would be standalone fuel management.
