but doesnt a electronic one work the same way basically in the end controlling like a bleeder valve or something of that nature?

Electronic ones have more features like gear specific boost, memory, adjustable duty cycle and are typically more precise.

I've used TurboXS highperformance MBCs before.. they worked just fine for me. I use a hallman MBC on my EVO. I've also used the AEM Tru-Boost (solenoid went bad), and an AVCR (takes a lot of time to tune).

Manuals are easier. Having to adjust it manually is not that big of a hassle to me. I'd avoid cheap ones, it's iffy if they would be any good. Just my advice.

Electronic > Manual and much safer. Boost can spike in climates where weather can drastically change. Electronics can prevent this while manual cannot. In the least teh electronic will warn you of what's happening.

Electronic and mainain more steady boost levels as well and potentially hold boost longer and quicker vs manual

I've had several of both but prefer a good manual if it set up correctly (ceramic ball and correct spring for boost range). The one I use now is a Hallman Evolution RX . It has a cable that can reach in the cabin so you can adjust it on the fly as needed. I got tired of opening the hood all the time when you wanted to go from daily driving to oh shit mode. I mounted the contoller right by the empty din below the radio. After a while you kind of learn the set points on it for different conditions (temps and whatnot).

k thanks this is really helping me alot but, one more ? How much of a change in weather will it take to or make a difference the amount of boost. By weather you guys are talking tempature right? BTW if it helps im basically at sea level.

I like manual. Set it once, and forget about it. The amount of times that I would be changing the levels of boost do not warrant the extra amount of cash I would need to spend.

This is the best boost controller I've ever used, bar none. Holds steady as a rock.

That statement is a bit overkill. Temperatures as im finding greatly affect boost levels, at least more than I ever thought previous. After hitting 18.1 PSI at the touch of the throttle the other day, i learned quickly just how much temperature and altitude (minor changes) can affect your settings, electronic or not.

Living in PA and WV, temps can vary from 70 one day to 10 the next. Very unpredictable so i like having the ease of a small twist knob to adjust to the current day's conditions

Im liking the idea of the Hallman Evolution RX paired up with a Pro sport peak warning gauge. idea of being able to change boost inside the "cockpit" :)seems nice lol the o shit light and beeping should grab my attention fast enough if over boosting starts to occur.. lol i guess we hope. But why is everyone so big on manual boost controllers spiking...? i dont see why a electronic boost controller wouldn't spike also? At the same time doctor jonez for 30 bucks might have me buying some new hood shocks So i dont have to bust out the bat to hold the hood up LOL :)

set up would eventually be the same as the one on http://www.jblmk3.com/cars/pvc.php site down to the T almost.

^ Yep, not to mention how wickedly fast you build boost with an EBC compared to the bleeding effect w/ a MBC.

I bought an HKS MBC in 04 when I first got my supra, its not a big hassle to adjust mainly has to be done when weather changes or if you wanna change the setting for another reason, never had a problem with it and it cost 90 bucks in 04 when I got it, took 20 minutes to install.

This forum is funny sometimes. :biglaugh: You already have that, it is called the acclerator pedal. Don't push it to the floor, and you don't get that mode.

The electronic controller blocks the air from the actuator. The same as a manual. A manual controller will bleed slightly. But I can tell you first hand the DrJonez MBC responds very fast. Quicker spool, no spike. Well, I spike from 13 to about 15, but I have an automatic.
