whats involved from swapping a manual car to an auto (stock toyo auto)? I know the physical work, I'm asking wiring wise. Are the Manual cars setup for a auto? as in will the ETC ecu plug in to the pre existing harness or will I have to make my own?

You would need an auto engine harness the auto has the plug for the neutral safety switch and that other plug as well.

yep, thats taken care of. I'm mainly asking about the ect computer.. will the manual car have the connector for it (i'm doubting it will, but you never know i guess)

Auto engine harness and auto ECU. You will also need the ECT module and I don't know if a manual cars body harness has got a plug for that. If not then I guess you'd have to swap the body harness with one from an auto as well. Auto tach, auto throttle body and bracket for tranny kickdown cable.

Seems to be a bigger chore then doing an auto to manual swap.

Check the passenger side kick panel and see if there is a big plug there that's not connected to anything. That's where the ECT goes.

Is there a thread that does a W58 to a Auto Swap?

I'm looking to do that swap. From NA/W58 to GTE-Auto swap. I've been looking in the tech section, no luck yet....

If it were me I'd think about going to TH350. Mostly because I'm a drag racer and you can have a trans brake on a TH350 or TH400. But even if that doesn't apply to you, the TH's are just a strong transmission.

It wouldn't be much more work. Pretty easy swap actually if you have some fabrication skills.

Well, I'm not you. I'm not a dragster either, so I'm not doing the THwhatever.

I already have a 7M-GTE with a built MKIII auto transmission, and I'm picking up a 92NA 5spd. I know what the combination I had was giving me, and I would like to keep it.

I don't want to believe I'm the only one would has done it/is considering doing this with the MKIII auto transmission.

I'll keep searching here and the Supraforums. So far, nothing.....

Not to ask a stupid question but why are you trying to swap and go auto??

scooter

Why does everyone always have questions when someone does manual to auto but not auto to manual? Auto is simpler and easier to drive, faster in the 1/4 mile. That's the main reason most people drive auto.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't care either way, I was just curious.

I don't really mind either, I'm just saying, there aren't many reasons to convert from manual to auto. Plus, I get tired of all the people who seem to think manual is better than auto in every way, especially the younger people who think it's all about revving as high as you possibly can. Oh well, no harm done.

I've driven both manual and auto. Then I did a rebuild on my auto transmission: stall, torque converter, etc. Night and day difference.

I'm not knocking anybody that does the auto to 5spd or THwhatever. I just know what my combo feels like, and I like it. So I'd like to keep it that way. I'm not loking to street race. I'm not looking to go to the track. but I do like the jaw dropping/pillar gripping feel when they see and learn it's an auto.

Autos can have fun too.

So, with all the responses, I guess no one has done it? Or no thread on it? Well, when I do it, I'm gonna have to take some picks and do a write-up...
