WTF is all I can say,

I'll start off with the cars, 2000 Honda Civic 2 dr coupe I believe its an ex in usa, anyways, he has a swapped 1.8 GSR JDM integra motor, LSD, FPR, some ground wire kit, ram air intake, and a spoon lightweight flywheel, I have an MKIII n/a chassis, with a 7mgte, 3 inch Tanabe Dp and some shitty intake, and full 3 inch from the downpipe back. He wanted to go from a roll, so we sat beside each other I was in 2nd gear, 2800 rpms, he was in 2nd at about 4000 rpms, so he tells me when we hit the oncoming sign on the road nail it. so I did. Man he spanked me all the way up to 150 kms!( when we shut down cause we had to turn off the freeway) and he was always pulling on me, not alot but just a bit! Im thinking a got beat cause of my 4.30 lsd rear end?? Im impressed by his civic, ever since he swapped it. I need help.

get a new elbow. ;) you'll notice a significant increase in power right there. the stocker is wicked restrictive. (i highly suggest the BIC ddp) by the way, i have the 4.3 LSD in my turbo swapped 86.5, and have never had a problem with it. actually, you'll accelerate faster with it compared to the other two stock options.

None of your fucking business
Your rearend did not lose the race for you. If you had a 3.73, It woulda been a larger margin of victory for the civic. But 150kms (90mph I think...) is not very fast and you probably woulda caught him after 105-110mph. Get the BIC DDP and go spank him, just make sure you get a boost controller so you won't hit fuel cut...

I keep hearing the elbow is a huge restriction (sp) should I buy a 3 inch elbow or just fuck it and order a ddp?? Gotta love my Manitoba Law where theres no law on having a cat :icon_bigg If I swap the dp will I notice a big difference?? I guess he should have won when you think about the power to weight ratio??

Please explain.

On turbo cars a 430 rear end does not load the engine enough to build boost. the more load you can put on a car the more boost it will make. hense why higher gears are good for turbo cars.

for example my friend makes 316tq, i make 290tq. he is an auto with a 430. I'm a 5 speed with 373. we are dead even until 80mph and then i just walk by him. If anything the 430 is hurting him. He should be able to pull away from me in the bottom end.

Alot of my buddies have swapped Civics(hatch, coupe, etc) and I raced a jdm GSR swapped b18c1 before(180hp compared to the US 170hp engine) in a hatch back (similar mods to the one you raced) At this time, my 91 turbo was still functioning, and it had the usual bolt-ons. These lightweight tincans have 1 thing we won't ever have "light weight" and ummm "LIGHT WEIGHT", but from take off... expect not to be next to them until the end of 2nd (if you're good and considering they're good-- VTEC people usually press the clutch down for a split second while accelerating to bring the RPM up to Variable valve timing territory--entering VTEC) but usually you'll be next to him atleast at the beginning of 3rd gear if you're average and with your mods ofcourse... the VTEC technology has great potential on top end, but like someone said... going past 90-100mph, they start losing ground (smaller displacement). I'd say just turn up some boost, get a DDP DP or 3in elbow and go smoke him...

Yea, taking all things into considerations, its not all surprising hes that quick, hes a good buddy and I went to the track today with him and he got a 14.6 at 97 mph was his best. so thats not that bad I think Off the line with my 4.30 if I can get traction I could beat him.

eh the rear end may be holding you back slightly. I personally love the higher gears

not really. the overall gain of the 4.3 far outweighs the loss. it's quicker, noticably quicker acceleration. that's almost like saying you wouldnt get a lightweight flywheel because there's less load, hence boost coming on later.... the gain of the flywheel, (super fast revs) outweighs the loss of boost earlier on...

So does this mean the 4.30 is an advantage?? I mean for me I dont have many freeways where Im rolling, mostly 1/4 racing for me. Before I start getting mod crazy I need to get this car running 100%.

yes, the 4.3 is an advantage for you. you'll have faster acceleration with it.
