3).051
4).051
5).052
6).070 noticed bearing was slightly rotated in cap, not completely flush cap end to cap end
7).053

tsrm standard clearance .021-.053, max clear .07

Polished crank with standard Clevite badged, NDC bearings.

Not particularly happy with this.... but wasn't expecting anything amazing since I did not go with Toyota select fit bearings.

Yeah, a little on the loose side.

The last time I had my crank ground, the shop that did it made it looser than I would have liked, in the .05mm range,
but when I took it down this time, I had non of the funny looking marks that I had on earlier tigher engines.

That .07 one would make me a little worried.
Maybe re-check it, or try a different insert on that one to see if the looseness follows the insert.

for just checking #6 do i need to install them all again or can I just torque that single cap?

by insert do you mean bearing or main cap btw?

I come from a land down under
Ditto on play musical shells and see if it changes, leave the block side alone and just swap the caps inserts around.

Last 7M build I did was on the high side of 2 thou and was fine.

No you need to have the other inserts (bearings) in place to support the weight of the crank from tilting.
Maybe you can just put the block side ones in.
But without something there the crank will not sit strait, and damage the one set of inserts you have in there.

Got it, thanks George and Ian for chiming in, I'm going to play some musical main caps and report back.

Damn Ian I went out before you posted.. Switched #6 and #2 caps, the true#6 spot compressed below .025 and the true #2 spot didn't compress really at all.

Fuck.... Been doing this since yesterday I think I removed and installed the caps all of 4 times now, my thrust washers are getting gouged from removing so much.

No I didn't rotate it, my thinking process does not work when I'm stressed out and working on my car... How ironic; I'm stressed because of my car, while working on it!!

What's the proper way to remove the main cap with the thrust washers? My thrusts are getting jacked/falling to the floor when removing. It doesn't wiggle out as well as the other ones so I've been using vice grips and wiggling very fast while pulling..
