Maft Pro vs. H.K.S.

Has anyone ran both the H.K.S. and then ran Maft Pro?? all I've been reading here is maft Pro this, Maft pro that, so, I guess maft Pro must be the "one", Is H.K.S. in the dark ages?? God, I hope I'll be alright with my old dinasour ( I know I cant spell) F con, with g.c.c.??? Is Maft pro a day/ night difference???

I used the HKS VPC for about 7 years with the FCON and it worked, but it runs SUPER rich and you don't have a lot of adjustment besides a couple of knobs. You also can't datalog. Does it work? Yes. Is the MAFT Pro better? I my opinion, yes it is. You can datalog with it and have greater tuning over your car with it as well. There are other options, but it was easy to get the Pro up and running...it's just taking me a while to learn all the neat things the Pro can do.

The thing we don't have a lot of info on is the e-manage. I know some use it, they had them installed at Vegas. But the upgraded e-man also goes speed density.

i look at it like this.

the VPC is tried and true. it doesnt have as much flexibility as the MAFT-Pro but honestly do you need it? are you going to be pulling logs of everything you do? i run the VPC and have had 0 issue getting it up and running and on a dyno. i also DD my car w/o issue from 0 degrees F up to 100+, traffic, stop and go, etc etc.

if your car is running fine now why do you want to swap out to something else?

you can pull/add alot of fuel with the vpc/gcc combo or even a vpc/safc combo (probibly the better bet for tuning really)

no real info on the eman ultimate...mostly because no one has messed w/it.

as for the VPC vs. the MAFT pro, there's really no comparison:
-'80s tech vs. modern tech
-user upgradeable
-AFR tracking
-data logging
-boost control
-lots of other stuff

I'm only running the H.K.S. and the lexus A.F.M. and 550 for now also the g.c.c. (if I can ever find it) I LOST IT SOME WHERE Iwas just wondering about the maft pro,it sounded really nice, dosn't the g.cc. adjust the a.f.c.

My bad, I was refering to the ultimate when saying there wasn't much info. I read the thread Bishop started on SF back in '03 also.

What caught my attention on the ad on the back cover of Turbo magazine is the promise of sequential injection.

Other than that, it will be MAFT-Pro, if I try to really push the car.

The only thing the Fcon does which no piggy back does is read the ECU injector signals, modify them and send new signals to the injectors.(the injector wires are cut and ran from the ecu in to the Fcon then out of the fcon to injectors) This is why Fcon is safe to use with a FCD as the fcon will still send more fuel past the fuel clamp the FCD is sending to the ECU.

In comparison the fcon is like a commodore64 VS Win XP for upgradability and features. On the fly you can change your MAFT settings and get fedback through the laptop to see if it was a good or bad change. You basically have no choice on the Fcon maps other than those available pre programmed. The Maft Pro is a VPC+SAFC in 1. I have limited Pro experience but i am already loving it. I have a Fcon but never used it as it is missing the MAP sensor.

the rebic LC does the same thing. that's how it removes the rev limiter, etc.
