MAFT PRo Timing Monitor Setup Q's?

I want to finally complete my MAFT Pro setup and put my glove box back together so I have a couple of questions....
The wiring is not an issue since it is pretty much self explanatory (Yes, I do have the additional wires needed for this). I realize I have to cut a little resistor thingy in the 'Pro box itself and I wanted to see if someone had a pic so I do it right as far as which one it is. As far as setting it up, I read somewhere on here that you have to calibrate the Pro to match your actual timing...that is where I get confused. What should I be setting my timing at during all RPS/Boost ranges???? Also, I believe that the Pro doesn't do timing "control", just monitoring, correct?

Any help would be appreciated.

from the mkiiitech.com MAFT pro FAQ:

Timing monitor setup:
-set Fin to 20
-connect yellow wire on MAFT pro harness to G2
-clip resistor R7 inside the MAFT pro case (IIRC it's on the back of the board)

...

R7 is the AFM input pull-up resistor. to monitor timing, you don't need the pull -up.

...

just a note to those using the timing monitor- after setting it up,
you'll need connect a timing light @ idle and adjust *Tm Base* to match
up the MAFT pro's timing reading and the reading on your timing light.
it may be a good idea to take some readings at higher RPM as well and
use *Tm Correct* to correct any differences seen in the high RPM.

note that you MUST be running speed/density to do this as you're using the AFM input to the MAFT pro to monitor timing.

Thanks Adam. That is the pic I was looking for. Just wondering though, if I cut that resistor and decide I don't want to use the tm function (I haven't heard too much good so far about it) it seems that there is no going back....correct? Also, will cutting this resistor void any warranty (if there is any) on the Pro unit?

What is G2 referring to?
When you are initially adjusting the timing for the Pro do you use the jumper on the diag block?

man, i love it. WHAT isn't good about it? the fact that no other device can do it? i am about to give up attempting to HELP the "community"....it's a joke and a waste of my time. i cannot combat the flood of misinfo on the intarweeb....

the only reason you would want to reconnect R7 is if you were going to use the MAFT pro in translator or AFC mode. if that is a concern, desolder R7 and replace it should you want to return to that functionality.

nope, no warranty concerns....though it will be fairly obvious if you screw something up doing it. if you're really concerned, feel free to return your MAFT pro to me and i will remove R7 for you.
