So i think im gonna buy a MAFT PRO but i was looking at the site and was wondering if anyone can tell the differences between the GEN 2 and MAFT PRO.

I'm assuming the MAFT PRO is better only cause it is more exspensive lol..

Another question is i've heard that you can get rid of the AFM and there's setting for running Vented BOV's and so on, Can any of the Apexi Tuners do this?

What all do i need to make it work with the 7M only reason i ask is because i saw things like 3 bar map sensors and im unsure why those are needed or what there for?

The mode that you're thinking of is called "Speed Density", which basically takes a estimate as too the amount of air going through intake based on the air temperature and manifold pressure. An AFM or MAF is not required in this mode, but as I said before, it is still an estimate and not a hard measurement of the amount of air. You would hook up a MAP sensor (that typically comes with the kit) off the same line that your stock boost gauge would run off of, and you would have to add an air temp sensor in your intake piping and from what I understand the closer to the manifold the better, so you can account for the increase in temperature as it warms up from heat soak in the engine bay.

As for MAFT 2 vs MAFT Pro vs (insert ECU replacement here), I can't answer too much there. How much power are you looking at making? If you're aiming for 400whp or maybe a little bit more, the Lexus AFM + 550cc injectors + pump + regulator + your choice of fuel computer is a fairly simple solution and keeps some of the safety nets that the stock ECU provides.

I've also been reading some things about the HAC Sensor mod so it runs right?

I'm just tired of backfire every other time i step on the gas from venting lol.

And Maft seems a whole lot more reasonable cash wise then AEM EMS

I've got on for sale if you want it, cheaper than buying new. too bad you have an 89 though, i made a PnP harness for a pre89.

I'm definitely thinking of getting one. I just get confused on what all the 3 bar map sensor stuff is for?

How do you know what BAR MAP sensor you need?

from what i understand, it's basically how much boost you want to run. 1 bar = 14.5psi, and the sensors come in 2, 3, 4, etc bar ranges, so your sensor has to be able to mesaure the boost properly. cant run 20 psi on a 1 bar sensor for example. you can get a GM 3 bar for pretty cheap, I got mine new for about $80 if i recall

radiod put it best, you only need the map sensor if you want to run speed density.

Remember also that it's absolute pressure, so a 1 bar sensor won't read boost at all. A 2 bar sensor will read up to 1 bar boost, so a 3 bar sensor is good for about 28 lbs boost.
