OK I'm thinking of buying a maf translator my friend has the maf pro but thats cost $400 buy itself. But he told me about the maf gen2 works the same as the maf pro but a little differnet. My question is the maf pro you can work with out your stock maf sensor does the maf gen2 do the same I'm trying to run with out the stock maf on my car causing trouble. Or does anybody know the differnts with this maf translator or there any other out there that does work with out the stock maf. thanks

The MAFT Gen II is a MAF Translator. It allows you to switch from the Karmen Vortex AFM which the GTE uses to a less expensive and better flowing GM MAF.

The Gen II is not capable of controlling boost, timing, or converting to speed/density.

a maf converts a General Motors mass air flow senseor signal into information the stock 7m ecu can understand (you cannot use stock afm you have to use a gm maf). benifits of it are better flowing maf, fuel tuning w/ stock injectors or much larger, cheaper replacement of maf (like 90 bucks as opposed to 190), fuel cut raised it cannot controll boost or timing. but can be used with another boost controller and or timing controll. if you have any other questions feel free to pm me.

Ugh.... had I understood the question at the beginning this would all be out and cleared up by now.

So, here's the question: Can the MAFT Gen II be run as an AFC?

Answer: YES!

You do not have to use a GM MAF with the GEN II although I really can't think of a reason not to. The GM MAF's flow MUCH better than the stock AFM. However, if you want to stick with the stock AFM, yes, you can (at least according to the info in their support forum).

BTW, the manual is available here: http://www.fullthrottletech.com/showthread.php?t=1849

Try using more punctuation, make actual sentances and use paragraphs. If you don't know the precise way to phrase a question break it down and use examples... you'll get your answers a lot quicker.

no i think he wants to eliminate the afm alltogether and in that case he needs maft pro w/ speed density. but dgsupra you do need to learn how to ask smart questions.. wait come to think of it i saw a post on that somewhere..oh yeah http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2016

You didn't sound like a dick at all. I may have, but I'm getting sick of people writing unintelligible posts and then bumping six minutes later when they don't get an answer quick enough.

I accept the possibility that English may not be this person's native language. However, in that case they should have enough common sense to use grammar (present in every *written* human language on the planet) to attempt a post which is as easy to decipher as possible.
