i have a good bit of mine stripped,a nicely lowered suspension, and awesome weight transfer. i like to get sideways myself and my baby does it all day long with ease. the other things that will help you are the support pieces. ie; aftermarket strut tower bars(front and back) and sway bars. perfect to brighten up your steering days. switch out your ps rack with one from and fc. they are lighter and have a tighter ratio. also a great steering and control adder. you could also go with some eurethane bushings and other things.

i still say the mk3 is a cow/hippo and its pretty much pointless to strip it down in the interior when its still going to weigh 2.5 hippos...

If Liposuction on a fat person is what you dig thats your thing go for it..
lol in all reality, weight reduction on these cars just isnt my thing.
Personally i wouldn't lose the cars luxuries and ammenities at the benefit of losing weight..

Here in arizona, AC and luxurious plush leather motorized seats is kind of a necessity when your in 115+ degree weather 9 months out of the year. Im not about to ditch my AC hehehehe

i mean afterall in a certain old supra ad i just recently saw, toyota specificallly said the supra was made to compete with the vette with all of the power but even more luxuries at a cheaper price.

To the original poster, you said you haven't driven the car a lot. Well here's an idea...before you go hacking your car up, why don't you drive it a bit the way it is and see exactly what you think it needs after you get some more seat time?

Just a suggestion...so many people these days jump into older car's and think they have to tear everything out and it will solve all their problems. The majority of them admit that they haven't even pushed the car as is but are willing to listen to the masses that preach about what most of them don't know.

p.s. Im young myself and no I have no great grasp of handling/suspension..yet. However Im not completely screwing up the car without having driven it multiple times on a course to see exactly what I think it needs.

^ever tried pushing a supra down a residential street that has center graded roads? Took me 2 hrs to push my supra 2 blocks...

I vowed never again, which is why i have AAA to do the pushing/towing for me.

just take out everything that is not needed for the car to run. example interior ( seats front and back. plastice trim all of it. gauge cluster all of it (get aftermarket), trunk plastics all of it, spear tire A MUST, etc.)
Think about the possibilities.

Nope all supras had ps, the 89+s had progressive though. 5.0 mustangs have a usable rack... theres a faq on supraforums about it.

Anyways, you guys are missing alot of weight... theres weight to be lost in upgrading to 89 moulding... it will also save you from rusting out.

The sawblades weigh in at 22lbs a piece! Rx-7 rims are alot lighter... cant remember though.

Driveshaft weighs in at like 32lbs... the aluminium ones get down to ~13lbs.

Flywheel is ~17lbs...

Theres nearly 50lbs of rotational mass that can be freed up. You can dig out the heater core for 10lbs... ill send you a cookie if you rip that thing apart just to save 10lbs lol.

A/C system is ~40lbs... hell just go ffi and save alot of weight... charcoal can has some weight to it. Take out the backseats and replace drivers and passengers seats with racing seats and you have ~100lbs right there. Hood pins give you the ability to ditch the hood latch which if i remember right is about 10lbs...

Sound deadening should weigh in at around ~45lbs...

Oil weighs too damn much, drain that worthless garbage out too while your at it...

My cars a hardtop so right there is ~80lbs lost, best mod yet, alot more stable of a car off the bat.

If they drift 350z, G35, and Skylines, you'll see a MK3 drift when I'm done.
Just need more power than typical.

Everything's possible.
