I don't know how many of you may have experienced this, but have anyone had some sort of rival thing with other MA70 people?

I would drive and there is another Supra coming on the opposite lane and as we pass each by each other, the opposing driver speeds by. I also had other experiences where the drive give me a sort of look that seems to say "my MA70 Supra is much better than yours" as we drive along in our opposing lanes.

And then I know two guys that I use to talk to a lot about cars and gave credibility because they were luxury Lexus guys. Ever since they each got MA70 Supras they act like they didn't want to let me in on things and some of the things they say doesn't sound truthful. One is doing the 1JZ swap and the other has the 7MGTE. I didn't get to see either one of their cars until after about many months after and this is only one car. When I say I want to check it out before that they said that they didn't want to drive it because the attention it would get from officiers and I just tell 'em I drive mines everyday.

I didn't get my car to be in a popularity contest. I got my car because I like it and it is me. But to be honest, most of my friends are Honda people and I got to say getting along with them have been great. And these aren't the bodykit and double deck spoilers either because they don't do that. I haven't really met another Supra owner personally that wasn't rival. But I wish I can and maybe it will be someday. So far not yet.

I've got a supra rivalry going on between me and a friend of mine, but it's not a bitter rivalry in the least bit. most any supra owner I've met (save a few MkIV guys) love to talk about the cars and don't ever rub in that their car may be faster. Maybe they just don't like you :icon_conf

Sounds like these guys are too high on themselves.
You're Honda friends seem like much better guys to get along with. Sucks that these guys have too much of an ego to get along with a genuine supra enthusiast like yourself. They're probably jealous because you know more about the car than them.

I don't have many experiances with other MA70 drivers as there aren't many in my area.
I only know of 2 around here and my friend has talked to one of the guys. He sounded like a bit of an ego head he said. I think he owns a MKIV too, but my friend said he barely knew anything about the MKIII.

I wish there were more MK3 owners around my area. There is only one maroon turbo that I know of and the guy just has it as a lawn decoration.

I come from a land down under
Owned mine 7>8 years before I met another owner here on SM that lives 5 mins away!

Most times if you see one out they'll nod/smile/wave as they're rare here.

Mk4 owners are another matter though, most think their shit doesn't stink and that they're driving the ultimate power machine that "will decimate all" :nono:

^ LOL

most mk4 owners i know are like that
but there is one here Kevin (drives with plate v8kllr) and he's really respectful actually, quite surprising lol

most mk3 owners here when we see each other we wave or toot our horns.
if they're driving past my house they kinda just stare... i guess 4 or 5 mk3's in a driveway will do that ;)

:icon_bigg JDMK3 you are right I haven't been to a meet. I was to busy with other things when there was a meet.

wingman I think you might be right. But the thing is that if they didn't like me they would have been like this a long time ago especially since they drive Lexus. It was after I heard that one of them got a MK3 that this whole thing happened. I guess they think I'm not good enough to help them work on it. I was glad when I heard they got the car because I was looking forward to another enthusiast like me. But now it is like a "mines is better than yours" type of deal. I was nice that I said my car is not fast but I like it. I was honest about mines. I guess that maybe this was why they been like. Well, I was the first one out of all of the people that I know to get a Supra car.

I know that there are Supra owners out there that are as nice as the ones on this forum because since a few are from Southern CA I know I will get to see them probably.

well, back in arkansas, they were pretty rare around my town, but when we saw each other, we would usually honk or play around a little, it was pretty fun although the guy was full of himself and his supra looked like sh*t.

in cali i met some pretty cool people, dont ever ride behind mattonedime in his single 1jz! it was alot of fun there,

now when i get back to the states, hope i get to meet alot of people on the east coast and in north carolina, cause that be where im going!

I usually flip up my headlights in greeting. If I get a MKIV I suppose I'll have to switch over to using the horn or waving or something. A Supra is a Supra, you have to respect the history. I flipped up my headlights for a MKII once but I think I just confused the guy...

Well, yeah, some people are just dicks. I was never a Supra guy til I bought two in the past month. I admit I was/am pretty ignorant of these machines but knew what a respectable vehicle it was and sought it out. But both of the guys I bought them from knew less than I do about them. One owning another Supra but he seemed like a dumbass. Probably would think his na auto would stomp anything. The car I got from him seemed to have been repaired by many a drunken shade-tree mechanics. The other was just not a car guy but respected it nonetheless. So I really haven't come across any other mk3 owners and had this problem yet, but I would hope to be welcomed with open arms into their Toyota Supra family. Or some crap like that.
