I've been sniffing out a list of Gremlins in preparation for mapping on 9th Oct.
Repairing/modifying the exhaust manifold evicted the LAMBDA sensor fuel trimming Gremlin.
Finalising the water/meth installation evicted a mystery ground Gremlin.
Upgrading the supercharger exit-flange evicted the fluctuating boost Gremlin.
Modifying the idler-pulleys evicted the frisky belt Gremlin.
Replacing the transmission evicted the Devin Gremlin.
Devins modified valve-body handicapped the transmission until it mortally wounded it a couple of months ago and I've been driving around without second-gear until I could get a days workshop access.
Saturday was this day, and I have built and fitted another with stock components using stronger actuator springs and now have the fastest and firmest gear-changes yet.
After missing a night's sleep I had a full on day bathing in A.T.F. and no pics were taken, too busy, too tired and too blathered to play with the camera too.
The Hybrid with the dodgy modified valve-body taken out and stripped for the line-pressure cable, actuator components and bell-housing, then using a low milage T.T. unit paired with a stock valve-body from my original N/A and the J3 bell housing from the previous transmission, one Hybrid is then built and installed along with fresh torque-convertor, new filter and a better flex-plate whilst I was in there, the workshop floor was more like an abattoir.
This new flavour Hybrid is awesome, first to second and second to third changes are instant and firm, third to fourth is instant yet softer, I could jack up it's actuator to match the others, yet I'm happy for fourth gear to arrive discreetly by the speed I need it.
The engine is pulling well up to around 5.5k before crackle popping and with the now working water/meth system quenching my late gear-changes, I've taken a couple of video-clips.
