I've been sniffing out a list of Gremlins in preparation for mapping on 9th Oct.

Repairing/modifying the exhaust manifold evicted the LAMBDA sensor fuel trimming Gremlin.

Finalising the water/meth installation evicted a mystery ground Gremlin.

Upgrading the supercharger exit-flange evicted the fluctuating boost Gremlin.

Modifying the idler-pulleys evicted the frisky belt Gremlin.

Replacing the transmission evicted the Devin Gremlin.

Devins modified valve-body handicapped the transmission until it mortally wounded it a couple of months ago and I've been driving around without second-gear until I could get a days workshop access.

Saturday was this day, and I have built and fitted another with stock components using stronger actuator springs and now have the fastest and firmest gear-changes yet. :)

After missing a night's sleep I had a full on day bathing in A.T.F. and no pics were taken, too busy, too tired and too blathered to play with the camera too.

The Hybrid with the dodgy modified valve-body taken out and stripped for the line-pressure cable, actuator components and bell-housing, then using a low milage T.T. unit paired with a stock valve-body from my original N/A and the J3 bell housing from the previous transmission, one Hybrid is then built and installed along with fresh torque-convertor, new filter and a better flex-plate whilst I was in there, the workshop floor was more like an abattoir.

This new flavour Hybrid is awesome, first to second and second to third changes are instant and firm, third to fourth is instant yet softer, I could jack up it's actuator to match the others, yet I'm happy for fourth gear to arrive discreetly by the speed I need it.

The engine is pulling well up to around 5.5k before crackle popping and with the now working water/meth system quenching my late gear-changes, I've taken a couple of video-clips.

Flappy-paddle operated ignition retard to 6° BTDC is wired to ECU and functions perfectly, on and off-able with O.D. button, street-mode and race-mode.

Red triangle is out at last and set to illuminate if the AFR runs lean.

AEM EGT sensor is speaking to the ECU.

No vacuum leaks neither.

At 1.1 bar boost the inlet temp with charge-cooler and without water/meth was ambient @ 20°C.

The really good news is that everything functioned perfectly and survived, even.

There's more torque bottom and mid-range and after giving another 10 bhp the engine is then choking @ 6k rpm.

Consensus is the exhaust gasses are backing up.

We tried the exhaust cam 2° either way during the last mapping, both lost power.

N/A cams are lairy-in and lazy-out and over 6k rpm the supercharger is pumping in more than can get out.

The conversion has had it's first fault free mapping up to 6k rpm and this is as far as it'll go on stock cams.

I've already put bespoke cams and coil on plug ignition onto my project list, but winter is looming and it drives like a dream so I'm going to enjoy it as it is until next alfresco tinkering season.

338 ftlb and 367 bhp at the hubs.

@ correction 1.13

382 ftlb and 415 bhp at the flywheel.

The powerband is now wider, there's more torque at the bottom end and the curve is flatter.

The water/methanol system actually reduced power, it's running @ 15% fuel parallel which is supposed to be the optimum, yet Dan reckons half that would be enough.

Awesome work david, seeing this is incredibly inspiring and exciting. can wait to see how things progress even further.
I am pretty interested in the vacuum diagrams from the first page but the link seems to be broken. also i interested to hear more about your HHO system. Do you mind conversing over email? i will send you a pm

Thank you.

Links are good for me, try a different browser.

My signature link is to full specs of the build where there's a link to a comprehensive build thread photofest of the whole project.

This supercharged manualised transmission combo is an Awesome drive, overtaking is effortless and the amazing working-noises generated from a change-down encourage many to pull over just so they can hear it howl by. :)

Rev limit cuts in with a flame throwing tail-gunner which can add to the drama.

Now it's all working, it's good to just drive it and do some catching up with the getaroundtoit jobs before the winter sets in, yet have purchased VVTI coils packs in preparation for an ignition system upgrade and need smaller jets for the water/meth.

If anyone has any Aquamist 0.3mm they would like to swap for 0.4's, I have four to trade.
