When I first rebuilt my engine I used Lucas oil stablizer for the the "break in period". I know there's been talk about using synthetic oil, and you should not switch back over to regular oil. What happens if I don't use it any more,... nothing?? Do I need to keep using it??
"J dub" what's the answer??

what?

why would you add anything above and beyond the oil during the break in period? Hope those rings got set.

Stop using ANYTHING except the oil. No need to use additives to inlcude this lucas thickner.

This is all that needs to be said about Lucas.

You could go back to dino oil, but why would you want to? With all of the added benefits that synthetic oil provides, I couldn't see draining synthetic oil and replacing it with dino oil. Especially on a turbo motor! If your only concern is cost, there's really not much of a difference once you figure in the difference of the added cost of changing out the dino oil more often; versus the extended oil drain intervals that you have with synthetic.

Lucas is snake oil...and so is just about every other oil additive out there.

Why you would use it to break in a motor is beyond my comprehension.

Lucus Oil Stabilizer can be used in a pinch as a decent assembly lube - THAT'S IT!

Doward, I feel better, that is exactly what I used it for. Then I replaced it with regular oil.
I know I said I used it for "break in",..I didn't I only used it as assembly lube, It's not like I filled the crank case with it, I know it may sound like that's what I did, not true at all.
