After I restore my car, im planning to get an LSD since apparently all n/a cars are open differentials stock unless it was upgraded to one. I wanna know what are the benefits of getting an LSD? Like what would I notice other than the fact that both the rear wheels would be spinning compared to only one?

huh? My N/A's both have LSD's; the blue one as part of the sport package, and the white one as a stand alone option the original owner had.

As for benefits; pretty much the same thing as for turbos. You can swap an N/A 4.30 LSD and have super short gearing, but it's not really beneficial on the highway.

I dunno if a lower ratio on an n/a would really be a smart idea. There was a thread about a year or so ago i believe a guy wanted to swap diffrent gears and everybody concluded that it wouldnt be worth it youd do worse on gas milage and itd be ALOT slower.

LSD = great idea do it! Lower gears = not so good idea.

It will work all the diffs are the same just the ratios and the open or lsd option changed.

You guys are nuts. I absolutely love the 4.3 LSD gearing w/ a 7MGTE in front of it...

4.30 is the lowest ratio that came stock in supra's, My N/A has 4.30/LSD and I like it aswell, 1st gear is too short for daily driving though.

all the ratios behind a gte work great the GE doesnt have the punch to push a heavy car around with those ratios. so everything gets worse.

i agree tho 1st gear with the 4.30's is WAY too short and it REALLY sucks in traffic.

How do know what ratio of gears you have without taking the thing apart? Did all pre-89 open N/A's have a 4.3?

compare highway speed to engine speed, or jack up the car and you should be able to rotate the driveshaft and count the number of rotations of the back wheel

what he posted works prolly the best if you go by the tag on the firewall it tells you what the car came with stock if its swapped itll be wrong.

I put a 3.73 in mine for my vegas trip and got about 25 MPG highway. HUGE improvement over my usual 21-22 mpg.

I didn't notice the car being any slower, but its a slow car even with the 4.3.
