man, so many responses but so little sureness.... where can i get my hands on some ford, i did the price check on the redline for the tranny and the lsd andit came out to about $65

Well I just did my LSD change with ford non synthetic 80w 90w and the ford additive xl3. I bought it at the Ford steelership. Every thing sounds fine for the past two days. By the way make sure you have a 24mm 6pt or a 15/16 socket. Those bolts were on tight.
I could pick up two quarts of the same LSD and the additive for you and charge you my actual cost plus 49.99 shipping if you desire. Lower 48 states of course.:naughty:

If I had the diff rebuilt I would, but I don't want to induce chatter...

Odd... in Canada they don't even carry the non-synthetic any more.

And you were right about the friction modifier, you need to buy that separately still.
