Abu: There's an intermediate plate between what normally would be a Bellhousing and the Trans proper, it's quite wide and that alone is going to cause issues in a MK3, then you have the Extension housing that's 10 mm wider than the tunnel between the seats and to top it off working out a speedo drive is going to cause headaches unless you have one of the T56's with a mech drive or an electronic dash.......

On top of all that there's only a few variations with a low enough 1st gear for our small 3 litre heavy arse MK3's.

I'm not trying to piss on the idea just trying to point out a few of the pitfalls, I had a T56 here and decided it just wasn't worth the effort!

the gear doesnt matter. the t56 has 2 overdrive gears, so just use a 4.10 or 4.30 and youll be fine. n/a's wit hthe sport package and 5 speed got 4.30 lsd's and who needs a speedo anyway. i broke my cable. went to fast i guess. toped the 130mph speedo in 4th then went to ~5.5k in 5th and before i got there the cable broke and the speedo droped to 0. i was racing a crotch rocket and he was pised off. lol. my mkii stayed right on his ass. lol.

This might help you visualise the problems involved.

yeah, looks like fitting it to the tunnel would be a royal pita. a v160 would fit nice imho, but again, i cant aford that kind of cash for a v160 unless someone was feeling mighty generous. i can do pretty much anything, just cant afford what i want to do. ah well, im young, ill have a much better job later im sure. need to get off my arse and get my a+ cert so i can go job hunting again. lol

LOL the "issue" with the V160 is getting Diff gears for an A70 that are tall enough to make it usable ;)!
(well that and the price)

I decided on the TKO Tremec and am really happy with how it worked out in the end!

the t56 that is bolted to the ls-1 is a crap piece. They tend to have issues at stock power levels. you'd be best to get the gear box from a viper or cobra and use the chebby input shaft, front cover and bell housing. Or you could use an r154 with a chevy to jeep ax15 conversion since the ax is very similar to the r154.

Yup... about $330 worth. But... it does make things much simpler...

If you think the 7M has low end torque- then you do not know what low end torque is.

just my 0.02psi :)

Heh, you beat me to it. Especially compared to a LS1.
Low end torque is dropping the clutch at idle and -instead of stalling- squawking the tires.
Low end torque is pulling from a light in 3rd gear, so you don't spin all the way through 1st and 2nd.
Low end torque is accelerating in 5th gear from 1000 rpm because you don't feel like downshifting.

And just to make sure we're straight here:
The LS1,2, and 7 engines, in terms of power density, output, efficiency, and cost; are better than any production engine that Toyota made or makes.

You said it man, torque is awsome. So I guess noone has really done this swap? I think it will be awsome, if someone can help me get an LS1 and tranny and ecu by like telling me if they know of one for sale I would be grateful.

If the stroker 7M fails, it's either a 2JZ or LS7 in the MK3 chassis next time around. (Leaning towards the LS7 engine, dry sump and all the other goodies. However, it will be a custom LS7, 7.0L displacment, but about 9:1 CR and a single GT40 out back where the muffler lives today. (STS style setup.)

Problem is the 25,000.00 I'd need to make this work. Would likely change over to a GM 4 speed since with this much power, who needs to shift manually? Not me. LOL Heck, leave it in second or third for auto X, and it would have plenty of power from idle to redline. (Too much likely.)

Where a car with an engine like this would be amazing is from 80 to 180mph. It would just lay waste to everything out there. (Assuming you could get it to hook up that is.) From 0-80, it's traction limited like every other RWD car out there, but would still be wicked fast around town.

Maybe in a few years I'll pick up a cheap hard top, and a used LS7, and go from there. :)

If you are going through all of the trouble to build a stroker, why would you use the most expensive of 4 blocks, when the block and heads are probably the only factory thing you would use? Also, why is the 6.0l not enough, you are talking about a 42r here not twin t76, I know from personal experience that a gt42(not even ball bearing) will jump right up there. We did one on a 408 stroked mustang. we still havent gotten power numbers yet, but we know he is pegging 8 50# injectors at a moderate boost level(I believe 12psi.)
