I seriously doubt that, there is no way toyota would sell a complete assembled short block that needs work.
There is also people that say the short blocks come out of mexico! hahah BS

Searched over on SF, and there were a few problems with the blocks years ago. They are corrected now. Some bought new short blocks and the tolerances and clearances were out of spec, another problem experienced was the oil passages were not completely bored.

Though it was very few blocks, I would tear it down and check it if I'm spending that money.

I haven't experienced it myself as I've always stored em flat but a few friends have so just figured even if there's a slight chance I'd warn you :)

Ive experienced it not a fun job after you think your done and have to rip it out and tear it apart to manualy disengage the gear

ok finally got a little more time.
i got the mock up motor in place. i actually had to do it by hand because my cherry picker broke! so i put the just the block and oil pan in first then the head. yea it wasn't the smartest thing to do but i got it done and didnt scratch and paint.

heres what i did so far for wiring up the power for the car,
p1403339_1.jpg

i have some more goodies coming in the mail to finish that up but you get the idea. when finished everything will be cleaned up and tucked away..

i think im missing some stuff here what do you think? lol

my old rotating assembly serves as a cool decoration for now.

why so much upgrading and only going with 550's? just curious not dogging i mean if you are going the extra mile (or ten in your case lol) everywhere else then why not there?

I got all the wiring routed now and have started wiring up all the go-tech stuff. It is supriseingly simple. I am very happy with it so far.
I put a new hole on the intake side in the firewall for most of the harness to go through so it doesn't have to be seen going across the top of the firewall. It is coming out super clean, the only wiring that is going to be visible on the intake side is going to be the injector leads and the TPS wiring.
I took some picks tonight but my camera died and I cant currently find the charger.

This builds looking amazing. Good job lppro. Can't wait to see what it turns into. And on the other note, seems like you really know what your doing, are you a mechanic or something or do you know all this knowledge from this just being a hobby?

Thanks, my supra is actually the first car I really did any work on mechanically, I bought it when I was 17 (I'm currently 19) and honestly I have learned by trying and by this site. after I did my first swop last year I got a job at a local tuner shop and learned more as I worked there. Now when I get any car work I just move the supra out of the way and work out of my garage.
Busy night at the shop,

ok, did a little cutting and welding today!

I decided I wanted to make the rear tire well flat so the battery box would sit level and nice.

the welding didn't come out perfect but it wasn't bad considering u was using my little mig with flux cored wire.
