well over here we got daytime running lights on half the cars so theres some people who just cant do it. as for me, i dont remeber the last time i really had my lights up. I drive to and from school in broad daylight but sometimes when we do go into a drive through i turn them off. Nothing pisses me off more then the people who have a headlight burnt out on the front, but instead of replacing it they decide to drive with their high beams on.... i swear some fucking people.

I try to do that in parking lots and such, if I'm facing someone waiting for a spot I'll turn off my headlights, although the Supie isn't high enough to blind many people, it helps a bit.

It bugs me, we have a 2000 Olds van, the stupid thing only has Auto, Parking, or On. There's no way to turn the lights off. If it's dark out, even turning them to parking leaves them on. So I feel sorry for some people in lower cars but I can't do anything about it. I've tried things that I heard worked on later versions of them, to no avail.

(Anyone know if there's a way to turn them off? lol)

So I was in a drive thru last night. And you know when you drive a low car, Normally a truck or some larger sedans lights shine right into your car and into your mirror causing blindness?

Well last night some guy in a Tahoe turned his lights off. I turned around, and said Thank you.

I was amazed that,

1. Someone was that considerate
2. That people are genuinely kind still in this day.

Anyone else get that?

Are you sure he turned his lights off specifically for you or just coincidence.

On many cars I have driven, engaging the parking brake one click will turn daytime running lights off.
That works a lot, but on many newer gm cars and trucks, if you press the "dome over-ride" button 2-4 times it will deactivate the daytime running lights. Thats on my 2001 xtreme s10. Gm's 96-00 use petal trick mostly, and 01 and up use button trick.

My dad's 2000 Corolla has a solar sensor that tells the car when to engage all the lights. Really its only for the interior lights as it has DTRLs, so really the headlights are always on.

I ALWAYS drive with my headlights on, even in broad daylight, force of habit (and i love my yellow foggies..:D)

but I always turn off my headlights at drive-thrus...

i find it pointless to light up the car ahead of you if you're only moving a foot a minute...

H8r, on our van the lights won't turn off unless it's in park with the ignition off. They don't come on till you take the P-Brake off, so I thought it had something to do with that, but it doesn't. I'd also tried flicking the light switch back and forth a few times. Nothing. I tried your dome override too. Nothing.
We've dealt with it for years but if there's some way to turn them off it'd be nice. (Like, if you go on a road trip out to the middle of nowhere where there's the danger of deer jumping in front of you or stuff like that - a safety concern)

RazoE, lol what kinda habit is running your lights in the daytime? Rofl. That's just putting more usage on your HL motors, they only have so many times to go up and down, and on an 18 y/o car I'm sure they're getting close to that number :p. Besides, then they make more noise! lol.

I did the foglight rewire...and I always drive with my yellow fogs on, headlights down.

I did it as a safety measure, because it seems like people never see me, and pull out in fron tof me all the time. I figure, at least this way, they are more likely to see me coming.

Jonathan,
My uncle told me it was illegal to run fogs w/o headlights on here in Cali. No problems? Of course, you also apparently don't mind running w/o a front plate either, so.... Lol. But you've never had probs for either? How long ago you do the fog rewire?

I haven't been pulled over for either...I don't see why the fogs would be a big deal, they are basically running lights like all of the newer cars have.
I agree, but since when does a law need to make sense for it to apply? lol.

And, last question, have you been pulled over at all w/o the front plates (not necessarily FOR them)? I'm not so worried about being pulled over for them as getting pulled for something else and having that tacked on (I soooooo want to take mine off).

How are the cops going to know they aren't daytime running lights? :D

I was pulled over for my exhaust, and they gave me a warning, didn't say anything about my front plate. I guess the cop didn't see it. My mom's car has had a german vanity plate on the front for almost two years, and she has gotten speeding tickets, and they have never said anything about it.
