Low oil panic & pressure shenanigans...

Checked again - oil level hasn't changed, there's no puddles under the car, and i can't see any oil escaping anywhere...i know i'm not burning it (no blue smoke at all, emissions all within spec), but obviously, it's going SOMEWHERE.

Argh this is infuriating.

Well lets hope nothing was damaged.. but anything can certainly happen, and sometimes it can be a split second.

As for a CPS I hate when they leak oil :(

When all four of my front seals leaked, not a drop hit the ground...at first. But the entire underside of the front end was coated in oil! (kicked up on the radiator, fan, and everything else till the tail shaft!) Hell, even the front of the resonator was COVERED in oil. This is right in front of the diff mind you!!

I just came back from crawling around in the cold under the car. There's NO oil coming from the rear of the engine. However, i think i've found the cause of the leak.

The CPS has no cap on it right now, so it's easy enough to see into the internals. They're slick with oil. The front of the power steering pump, and the PS reservoir, are COVERED in oil. The sound deadening on the bonnet (hood, if you prefer) has flecks of oil all over it.

Shaft bearing in the CPS gone? The O-ring was replaced in October/November '09, but thats when the original CPS cap crumbled into a million pieces....

Common problem is the bearing/seal inside goes and lets oil leak through. I have had many that have done this.. There is a thread to do that, but I would rather spend 60-70 USD on a used one in good condition.

If you need one I have one, ill open the cover and see if it is leaking it will need a new plug on it, but I think I have one.

Just crawled underneath it today, after the weather got warm enough to do stuff without FREEZING TO DEATH.

Front of the engine is COVERED in oil, from right under the CPS. However, more worrying, was the oil in the turbo inlet, and the boost hose going into the intercooler...

Seriously - i need a hand :/

New CPS installed, engine start and runs, pressure is FINE :)

Power Steering fluid was the cause of the worrying leak under the car - and the CPS was causing the loss of engine oil - but, new oil seal installed, just need to get the timing at 12' BTDC and we're all good!
