Well. I was out in town cruising the strip...
I pulled off into a parking lot because I had saw a friends car and went to go talk to him...Revving it up a little bit at him (because he revved at me), I went a little bit higher than I thought I did (loud enough that the BOV actually blew off)....Well, immediately after doing so, smoke starts ROLLING out from the back of the hood (by the windshield where the turbo sits) and so my first thought is, "Oh god, I just blew my turbo"...So, I pull off, stop it, shut it off, get out, smoke is just rolling from under the car and such (BTW, I'm running open TURBO ELBOW), so anyways, I see a nice long line of coolant from where I had revved it up at, so then I start thinking, great, I just blew my fucking headgasket.
Well, after about 5 minutes of letting it get a bit cooler to inspect, I find that some J shaped tube that sits on the firewall right beside the ABS had popped off and was full of coolant, so that answered the smoke everywhere (coolant went ALL over my turbo/elbow and caused smoking like crazy).
Well, I let it cool, put the hose back on with a tight clamp, put some coolant in it, started driving trying to get home ASAP. The water temp gauge hadn't even gotten hot at this point...but as soon as I pulled out of the parking lot and got down the road, THERE IT GOES. After 5 minutes of shutting off, starting back up, etc etc etc, I was SOOO frusterated and just drove it home hot. It started smoking about 10 minutes after driving it, this is when I got home and realized the smoke was coming from my overflow tank at which I forgot to put the cap back on :nono:
I pull in my driveway. Pop my hood, by this time, smoke is just surrounding my car, my CEL (Check Engine Light) had kicked on about 5 minutes before getting home), so I just left the hood open, let it smoke, and went inside to try to keep myself from going crazy...After I had shut it off and it was stiill smoking really bad, smoke was coming from the radiator it looked like and was making this CRAZY hissing sound...So, came back 5 minutes later, no more smoke. I get in the car, pulled up my codes on the Super Monitor, it tells me ENG - code 22, 34 & 42, and ECT -code 42.
So, I go to start my car up and pull it into the garage and get ready to tear it apart, it starts up for about .5seconds then dies. So...pushed it in, tore everything apart and inspected the turbo, checked my coolant, looked under my oil cap (didn't see any milky or white stuff), and was just checking everything. Needless to say, I couldn't take it anymore...so, now I'm stressing out...and sitting here.
Thankfully, tomorrow is the only day I don't work this week, so maybe I can get a chance to try to fix it...but I"m not having very good feelings about this.
Jeff.
