Well my brother came home last week, and so he said his lotus was still faster than my 91T, it was... they are amazingly fast off the line, but i was pulling on him hard, anyways we both shut down around 80.

His car 2004 lotus Elise convertable 6 speed : stock
My car 1991 toyota supra targa automatic : 57 trim Ct-26, 49k miles on chassis and engine, hks evcIV, NGK iridums and plug wires, Cooleeze upper and lower IC piping, 3200 stall Torque converter

He was surprised how much i was gaining on him, anyways he is back from turkey ( LT in AF) so it was pretty fun

I think M/T puts them at a mid 5 0-60 and low 14s quarter. Not bad for a big car with lots of bells and whistles.

A friend has one. Fwiw, it's a blast and hands down the best handling car I've ever driven. My other car has a Lotus chassis and also handles quite well. Btw, I seem to remember reading somewhere Lotus had a hand in the Supra's suspension design but it's been so long I could be wrong.

I remember seeing some Lutus badging on a MKI MR2 back in the early 90's, said "Handling by Lotus"

Wonder what that was about.

Meh... I'd skip the elise and jump right in the Exige, or course with not one single option in it besides maybe heat to conserve on weight. But yea, I really love those things also and IF I was offered one for my Supra I would do it.

BTW, Lotus does work on cars if someone wants them to and has lots of money, so maybe they had a limited run of Lotus Supras...

Yep your right. They did the set up on the MK2 supra.
Toyota made parts for Lotus back in the day.

I thought the exige was just a newer model that is essentially the same as the elise, i dunno its my bros car not mine, but they are fun to drive, and im pretty sure they get better than 14 quarters, and they are not big cars...

The Exige is a hard top and 4X the downforce that the Elise does. Other then that they are the same car.

Let's go Pens!!

Nope, 190HP for both.

yes....they are re-tuned 1.8 Toyota VVTL-I (2ZZ-GE) from the 7th gen toyota Celica GT-S. It was designed in conjunction with Toyota by Yamaha. It hits "lift" at 6200 RPM. With the very light weight of the lotus, they are very fast plus awesome handling. As for "bells and whistles", they have none. Barely even the most basic amenities. It is a street legal boy racer car for sure. I lust after them. (plus I have a 7th gen celica, although not a GT-S ).
p.s., the MR-S uses the 140hp 1ZZ-GE, which is VVT-I (no lift).

I think he was talking about the IS350 in the 14's.

A friend of mine got a lotus late last year, they handle like a 125cc shifter cart for anyone who has driven one...it's amazing. the elise is at 1950(?)lbs. and the exige, basically an elise with an Aero package is barely over 2000lbs.
My friend says they make turbo kits for them, the stage 2 putting it at 400hp at the crank, basically a pebble skimming along a pond.

Lol, i got to sit in an elise at a car show a few months ago. I had a hard time getting in, I couldnt shift it into first because of my knee, and i had to roll out of the car to get out lol.
