Well, they can get it using the passenger side door lock code(I have all the papers too). Not sure of any other way than the door lock code...

I called a whole bunch of Toyota dealers today and found a few that cut keys. They need the proof of ownership which is not a problem but they don't have the blank in stock. Would it be a problem if I went to my local hardware store and showed them my 89 key and they can sell me a blank that they would use, then take that to the dealer and have them use that to cut the key instead of waiting a week for the dealership to get a blank?

Dub, I don't have any keys. Can't find the one that came with the car. I am going to pick up a blank key from my local hardware store and take it to Toyota and have them cut the new key.

Strange. I know I went to my dealership 2 yrs ago for my 88 and was told they don't keep records (of the key) for vehicles that old.

yea hmm i know some dealerships are werid like they dont want to sell you parts from that long ago...its stupid cause most of them if its small enough part like freeze plugs for example they usually have those in the back in storage...

You get it figured out? Someone once told me that they only made 6 different keys for the MKIII Supra and that other keys will work on other supras. I'm not sure how true this is but I kept my keys to my first supra that was stolen in hopes of finding someone that could use it one day lol.

I doubt that Toyota only made six kind of Supra keys. Hopefully I can get a key made tomorrow if I can find a blank key at the local hardware store.

Nope, the VIN won't get you anywhere with Toyota any more as their database doesn't extend to our model year cars any more...............

Im throwing the :bsflag: and :: facepalm :: . I had MY sup's key is cut from the VIN. I wanted a new, non worn key. Went to my local Toyota dealership (st. cloud, mn.) and $11.22 later with my VIN, I had a key cut that worked like new. Maybe your Toyota sucks balls ;)

Proof is in the pic
