Losing oil quickly

My car is burning a lot of oil, as much as a quart every 500 miles or so. There is no smoke on start up and very little or not at all blue smoke when I rev her up. I know when it comes to these kind of issues it will be either a leak( a drip over night and it could be very well a p/s leak if anything, and if it is engine oil a drip overnight will not account for that much oil loss), rings( as previously mentioned, hardly if any blue smoke) or valve seals(no smoke on start up). However, with the filler cap removed and I give her some revs, oil is spurting out of that big hose coming from the block. Is that much oil even suppose to go through the pcv? Any inputs is appreciated, thanks.

If it leaks while it sits it leaks when the engine is running.

Ps oil is seperate than engine oil.

Compression test could give you an idea of the rings.

Clean engine off and fix oil leaks.

Well is it normal for that much oil spitting out of that big hose right where the oil filler is coming from the block on these engines?

Thats a vent/drain hose. so oil will be in it. They often get hard and cracked. Replace if needed.
