Okay so my friends 1988 Supra shifter is all loose. Its loose in neutral and also when its in gear. Could this be caused by the bushings on his shifter? If so any one have the part numbers and website I can order them from? Thanks:biglaugh:

Auto or manual tranny? I just got a set of bushings for my auto '88 shifter from my local Toyota dealer, as my shifter was pretty loose and sloppy though it still worked. Part# 90385-11003, cost a couple of dollars is all.

yeah, you just need those 2 bushings. I had this crazy play in the shifter too before I got these bushings.

I have the marlin crawler bushings as well. As far as I know, they're just stronger [polyurethane?] stock ones.

i used the toyota 'green truck' bushing and it felt as stiff as my other car which had the marlin crawler... just make sure you grease them up really good and that way you wont have a hard time shifting like most people complain about...

my shifter jiggles in any gear...and 5th feels kinda..."out there" if you know what i mean.

I'm guessing I should get these too then?

Thanks +1 on those parts numbers.

Could I fairly easily remove my shifter and replace these and fill my tranny with fresh fluid while I've got the shifter out? I think my tranny could use both...

I need to search on the tranny drain/fill tips with this method. I'm guessing i'd drain, cap the drain, open the filler plug, then pour from the top until some runs out the filler plug, right?

-----EDIT

holy poo is shipping a fixed 20 dollars? that's more than the damn parts! i must have screwed up somewhere.... did I?
