Loose ground wire, where does this go?

So I am cleaning up the engine bay of my car and I find this loose ground wire. It is attached right in front of the coil packs. Heres a few pictures? If anyone has any idea where this connects I would greatly appreciate the information.

That wire is a field ground for the coils, and has nothing to do with grounding the coils themselves. It should go from the coilpack mounting plate to one of the cam cover studs.

edit: I admit I dont know where it went originally. I too ran mine to the rest of the grounds on the intake. but I do know its not a big deal.

Looks like they added a additional ground to your coil pack. The white wire is not grounded correctly. As others have stated above. The coil pack should be grounded to the intake. Look to the drivers side of the coil pack and you should see a stud or bolt with threads. See photos.
First one to yell out oil clean your engine gets a shot right in the kisser.;) Yes, I dropped the nut and never found it. The nut is from your local ace hardware store with a after market washer.

Sorry it took so long, my internet is going in and out with the storm.

It is a ground for something. It is aftermarket. And one end is loose in my hand.

In the picture where I am holding the wire, Look at the intake manifold then at the sensor. And look at the round bit on the sensor, right before it goes into the hose, there is a round area that looks very rough. Could that be where it is supposed to hook up?

The funny thing is the car is running perfectly. A little rough at idle sometimes but nothing out of the ordinary.

I keep seeing pictures of the cars getting burned in electrical fires and don't want that to be my car getting cooked.

As was pointed out the original wire is installed incorrectly and the second wire was added. In other words the far end of the original isn't supposed to be connected where it is. It normally goes from the screw on the coil pack bracket to the stud on the head next to the CBV pipe clamp, not on the intake. That said it wouldn't matter if it went to the intake, just that's not how it came from the factory. Or just connect the added wire to the head stud. Same difference.

And as also pointed out the wire has nothing to do with the ignition system generating spark. It does do something though (grounds the pack cores) so it's better to have it than not.

Thanks, everyones responses are very much appreciated. As soon as I finish my hella long history paper I will go out and hook it up in the correct place, or maybe just do it on a break. 3 days is too long to not do a little mechanicin.
