Looking good under the hood.....

Has anyone found a good paint match to that of "HKS purple"......been looking for a while, can't seem to find anything......and the 2j valve covers are screaming at me for it......

it's not paint it's anodizeing....considering the valve covers are aluminum the also can be anodized....start calling "metal finishing/coating" places and see if they have a deep purple anodizeing...you can even go to a local machine shop and they can point you in the right direction to metal finishers...anodizeing isn't cheap...your looking at around $200-300 as most places have a base price...the more parts you get anodized the cheaper it is! You could have a custom paint mixed but you are still looking at $400 worth of paint that may not last under heat of an engine!

i know that it is an anodized finish and fully expect for the valve covers and any other misc. aluminum parts to be done this way (....but I don't have to pay for it, perks of knowing business owners)

......but i was rather looking for something more "generic" that could be used on plastics; such as any acrylic paints.......

figured you only wanted the valve covers done...which I would recomend anodizeing as it's fucking sexy....but you probably won't find a paint to match unless you can use a hobby paint from a hobby shop that sells rc cars...don't know what kind of paint it is but they always have radical colors such as purples...it would also require a clear coat as that type paint is a flat finish cause it's meant to paint the "inside" of clear plastic car shells....clear coat will make it shine...

That or contact house of colors for example and send them a pic of the purple you want replicated and they can mix you up some at the cost of your first born!.....the issue is that you need a high temp-chemical resistant paint such as motor paint and I don't think places like house of colors deals with that stuff....rc car paint is tuff as hell and is resistant to alot of chemicals but it's meant for clear plastic and to be painted inside out instead of like most things the paint is on the outside.

Hell go to home depot and have them mix you up some rustolium LOL.

Looking to paint the coil pack cover? Bring somethign HKS purple to a paint store, and have them mix you up some.

damn this slipped my mind....go to www.kgcoatings.com. They sell a product called gun-kote....it's was designed for firearms...the stff is cheap, tuff as all hell, very chemical resistant and can take extream temps....it bonds to metal and plastic....most of the finished are satin-flat though...but they have a bunch of other products but gun-kote came to mind cause I know they have a purple...I'd call them directly...think it's like $30 a quart

powder coat it. they got lots of colors and it wont ever come off

they sell chrome paint. You could just get it tinted with the purple. And it can be painted on plastics. http://www.kustomrides.com/chromes.htm

try and find pictures of mike urbano's old 1jz mkiii with his HKS matched valve covers....fucking beautiful.

anyone here have pictures of it? i used to on my other computer but the HD took a shit.

ask around on SF, try and ask user Nick Stonawski (supranick) if he has it.

as a matter of fact, i think there is an old thread over there called something like "post your favorite mkiii" its there some where.
