Hey-

I've been rebuilding my cylinder head, but found that I needed thicker shims for my exhaust cam. In fact, I needed 11 after all the swapping around was finished. I picked up 4 from Toyota, and paid $8.50 each for them(which is not a bad deal). I've heard of them going for as much as $11 each at some dealerships. This is still too much to spend for flat discs, in my opinion.

My machinist told me of a place I might try named Goodson. It's a company that caters to all of the needs of engine rebuilders and machinists. Well, I looked on their website, and found that they do sell valve shims(they call them clearance discs) in either packs of 4, or master rebuild kits, where they give you two of each size, amounting to 50 of em. Check it:

http://goodson.com/store/template/product_display.php?NID=171&SID=1967b518f383b5227a0a321cc9b2c255

They're available in every possible size we could need, from 2.3mm(.090in.) to 3.5mm(.137in.). The 4-packs cost $13.99, which makes them about 1/3 or more cheaper than anywhere else I've found.

Anyway, just wanted to share.
I just ordered two packs in 3.0 and 3.10mm.
When I get them, I post back on the fit and finish.

You can buy them from Yamaha as well. When they designed the head, they just reused some parts they already had.

Of course, they don't list parts for a Supra, you have to find out what bike engine used them, and I'll be damned if I can remember which one it was...

Yes, but are they <$3.50 each? I also found that you can pick up shims from certain years of the following engines:
3SFE
3SGE
5SFE
7AFE
4AGE(not sure)
I just grabbed a bunch from the junkyard, between the sizes of 2.78mm and 2.9mm. If anyone needs some sent to them, LMK.
