$300 - $500 for a radar detector?? The secret to beating speeding tickets is.... Show the man a lot of respect when he pulls you over and keep your mouth shut. Having a radar detector is a guaranteed ticket when you get pulled over. If that doesn't work get a lawyer. You can buy a lot of traffic lawyer time for that much money.

Tried the "respect" tactic,it doesnt work. Hell i even hit them with my great smile, got a compliment and a ticket.Contesting in court is great way to beat it minus a lawyer.Just be clear and concise in your explanation, and the cop may not show up,because they usually have better things to do.
