The V160 ratios are not that different than the R154 they have differences. I am not dsayign they don't.

But it takes some banging and a custom drive shaft to fit one in. not to mention there is no tach cable coming from the v160 .So you would need to find a way to deal with that also.

if i find the other thread where the gear ratios have been gone over and over, I will post a link.

In all Honesty the R154 is enough for the 1J the Final drive might not be the same as the V160 but Are you really going to be doing 180MPH+ everyday. If not then it really won't matter to much

or even adapted richmond or tremec or other borg warner like t-56
actually I had been giving this some thought. it's a known stout unit with ratios that seem to line up well, a great high cruise gear, just a matter of making it bolt up. Anyone making adapter plates? or am I in for some mill time on my own?

V160 honestly seems out of my price range anyways, but I can find a T56 out of a camaro for a very reasonable price (not much more than I'd pay for an R154) and it doesn't seem that my tranny bolt pattern woes will be any different between the T56 and the R154, unless I get one shipped in from japan, which is definatly big bucks, even with a friend over there.

thanks for the wiring diagram link, I'll check it out.

I'm actually running the insturment cluster from my race sled, it's got a digital speedo with a magnetic pickup that I have on a front wheel atm. So tranny tach cable is not a necessity.

Summit racing sells them for $400 but it is the complete bell housing not a cheap adapter or 2 1/2 bellhousing welded together
add-712548_w.jpg

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=ADD-712560&N=700+115&autoview=sku also it is a reverse set up i have heard they are out there you just have to find them when i had a mkiv there is some place in the desert of ca that makes them and if it will adapt a 2JZ to a sequential and other trannys then it should work no problem with 1jz.

try the advanced adapters web page!

^^ that is badass, and saves a TON of work, definatly worth the money.

does the dodge t-56 use the same bolt pattern as the chevy one? the dodge gear ratios sure seem to fit better, not to mention it's alittle heavier built, which would be nice.
