This vid has been floating around for years, and I used to have a copy of it, but I lost track of it a couple years back.

I've searched a lot for it since, and can't seem to find it. Figured I'd post it here in case some of you OT folks have a copy lying around.

It's a vid where some guy pulled over by a State Trooper is screaming at the Trooper, swearing, howling, the whole works. Through it all, the Trooper stays super calm. When the guy gets his ticket, he tears it up and throws it on the ground - the Trooper tells him that he'll cite the guy for littering if he doesn't pick it up. If you've seen it, you'll remember it - if you haven't, you want to, it's awesome.

The officer handled it better than anybody around here would have. Our local cops would have dragged him out of his truck and he'd be lucky if he ever saw his family again.

I wonder how he thinks Bill Clinton did while in office?

My advice to you: leave earlier and do 2mph under.

He said it was a 40 mile per hour zone and he was doing 57. He saw the 55 mph sign later, or at least that's what I got out of it.

Maybe it was two miles over the speed limit, but I heard the driver say it was a 40 or whatever the hell speed zone it was............hard to understand babbling.

If he DID give a ticket to someone for going two miles over the speed limit then that's definately grounds for dismissal in my book, but I think the guy was going 17mph over the limit so I don't really know.

Why the hell should be fired for doing his job?

You can't "slightly" break the law, It's either it's broken or it's not, and going just two miles over the limit is breaking the law no matter how you look at it. If the officer wants to pursue it, the offender must deal with the consequences.

you can give a ticket going 1 mph over, i have seen interviews with both people on programs like Real TV and such. the guy admitted he was wrong (that got the ticket) and the trooper only laughed about it as he was still in law enforcement.

Even if two miles over the limit is two miles...........it's also two miles, so give me a break. I didn't fire the guy, and I don't think that's why he got fired, but if he gives someone a ticket for doing 57 in a 55, then he's just trying to be a hardass. Nobody I've ever talked with or heard from has ever received a ticket for going two miles over the limit, so I doubt very seriously that this is what happened. Two miles over the limit is more like bending the law, than breaking it.

The reason nobody gets tickets for 2mpg...

First, it's not reasonable to expect drivers to watch the speedo all the time.

Second, auto manufacturers aren't willing to put the money into everyone's speedo to make it extremely accurate, and if the driver thinks he's going the limit but the police ticket him for 2 over, the driver is being penalized for the manufacturer's error.

Third, the speed measuring devices the police use are only accurate to a certain degree as well. I've spent many hours sitting in the parking lot with a buddy's radar gun, clocking all kinds of things that are standing still or moving very slowly and laughing at the outright ridiculous readings we get.

^ There was a kid in my town who got busted for doing 25mph over in a school zone, which was 30mph. (Officer said he was going 55mph). The kid showed up a court, and requested that the Officer bring his radar as well. (Not sure if it's detachable or what?)

In any case, the Officer pointed it at the wall, and got a reading of 23mph. LOL. Case dismissed.
