Can anyone point me to a trustworthy place to buy a jdm 7mgte. I bought one years ago and it was good but when I got it the oil pan was smashed up. My car is down for now and it was unfortunately my daily driver. I got big stuff coming up in a few months and I just need it to carry me till then. After that it is on!:naughty:

Any help is appreciated.

I bought mine from www.tigerjapanese.com . They have good prices and cheap shipping and my motor was in very good condition and ran very strong. But as with any jdm motor, its a crap shoot. I guess i was just lucky. :dunno:

I'll tell you now, some people will swear up and down that,
"Company A does THIS & THIS better than Company B"
and "Company B includes this but Company C sells broken XX's".

As it's been mentioned thousands of times...
Purchasing an overseas motor will always be a gamble.

To be honest, the biggest thing nutswingers can have in defense to a certain company is the price and customer service.

Everything else? Luck or no luck.

Of course, some places will seem to have more and better reviews than others...but probably because they just happened to get a good name from a lot of referrals, therefore does more business.

I've dealt with 2 companies in the past and one most recently, and these companies, I'd heard pretty harsh and negative comments towards them...
For me? Not one problem.

Good luck on your search.

JDM....Treat it like any junk yard motor. Assume it has BHG and RK and build accordingly, do otherwise at your own peril.

It really is a gamble, I got a clean looking engine from tigerjapanese, but the harness was cut off even though I called them to ask explicitly if the engine I was purchasing had a complete uncut harness. I may have rodknock on it too... but I am not sure about that. The HG looked excellent though when I changed it, and there was very little carbon build up in the cylinders and on the valves.

Well yea my swap had a cut harness too. Also had cut ps lines and random other wires..but pretty much any swap you get from anyone has a cut harness unless you know people who have control over the engine removal.

Typically, if you request and specify an uncut WIRING HARNESS....there's usually no problems there.

But, expect Power Steering, Vaccum, & Battery lines to be cut as well as misc. hoses and even some plugs.

Again...Every motor is going to be a bit different.

i actually goy my engine from ebay and the seller was named nagasaki engine exchange. eventhough i was just swapping in another n/a it was really cheap. it was like 650 for engine and shipping. came with everything. and warrentied everything. i only had three problems, the coolant needed to be flushed alot, harness was cut (just used my old one), and it was actually a cressida 7m so some stuff had to be converted. but i have never had anything bad. i've had it for just about over a year, and not mechanical problems at all. but maybe i was just lucky idk. but they are out of canada and all engines where tested and you know the usual. pm me and i'll try and hunt down the number. hope this helps.

Impossible to tell unless you have it checked out. Keep the egr and maintenance up and it should pass as long as it's stock and well taken care of.

It all depends on what's been done to the care modification wise, how hard the motor has been raced, and how well maintained the car is.
