My first car was a 1982 Supra 5-spd that was somewhat of a rust bucket and the AC never worked but it never left me stranded commuting from NY to AL for school quarterly.

My second car was a black 1986.5 N/A 5-spd with grey cloth that I liked even better but again had no AC and caught some cancerous rust. I was driving it on my first date with my wife of 12 years.

I haven't had a Supra now for about 12 years but am itching to get a MKIII as a weekend driver.

I am not the most mechanically inclined but do enjoy working on cars and changing brakes, doing tune ups, etc. Even if I had the skill of most of you guys I don't have the time or space to any major work.

One of the reasons I like the MKIII is they seem to be fairly reliable when taken care of properly but I haven't had a turbo and they seem to be much more common. Am I going to be OK with a turbo or am I going to be disappointed with the level of maintenance involved? I was originally looking for a 1990+ N/A 5-spd and a targa top would be a bonus.

A ton of great info on this site. Thanks Matt

taken care of 7mgte (turbo engine) + MHG + Basic maintenence = bullet proof engine

You will NOT be sisappointed in anything with a turbo car, as long as you buy one that hasn't been beat on or hasnt been maintained. Do the mods in my sig (not expensive) and you will be hooked for life!

Welcome to the forums, before you settle on the N/A take a turbo out for a spin then decide what you want to buy.

habsfan/MA71 - thanks for advice. Can't wait to find a nice MKIII.
