Yeah currently im running Stock DP, Stock Cat, and Tanabe SHM. Its really quiet to where i can barely hear it and people say they dont even notice it. I have no idea what it sounds like when im doing WOT but then again im in the car. So how can i make the exhaust more noticible while keeping it of course i love the look of the tanabe. I have an HKS downpipe in my closet hopefully that will make a difference. So any ideas guys haha?

Yeah i know the Tanabe is meant to be quiet but i dont want it so quiet that it feels like im driving a Prius.

Haha thanks

ditch the stock cat, install that dp and it will get louder. if you want even louder remove the resonator before the muffler and that will make it louder also

Depends on the emsissions in your area, and if the cops check for them. I say a test pipe.

Only when i go into emissions to get it tested do they look under the car.
I havent been stopped by a cop yet.

3" elbow w/ Downpipe, Test pipe/High Flow Cat, Cut off the resonator and weld a pipe where it used to be.

Cant do the elbow the car has a GReddy TD06 turbo on it.

so what elbow are you running with the stock DP? with an aftermarket Turbo, you'd need a custom DP fitted to your Turbo. either way, you'd need a 3" DP, test pipe/high flow cat, like i said before, cut out the resonator and weld in a straight pipe where it used to be.

My exhaust piping extends to the DP, so I'm not running any cats and no resonators.

I love the fact that the tanabe is quiet idling - don't worry, it sounds great outside of the car - have somebody do a fly-by so you can hear.

I have a big downpipe and high-flow cat - I love it.

The TD06 i believe comes with an elbow all i know is its not the stock elbow from what i can see.

with dugums you don't think it sounds loud, let someone drive it with a upgraded downpipe and a test pipe, and as we all know that the tanabe gets pretty loud at wot!

Ok so will a test pipe or a hi flow cat make more of a sound difference along with my hks dp

In short, yes. A test pipe will also be slightly louder than a hi flow cat.

I also wouldn't cut off that resonator just yet. Change the down pipe, lose the cat, and see what it sounds like. It will be louder than it is now. If it's not loud enough for you after that, then replace the resonator with a straight pipe; but I'd personally save that for last.

I have no cat or resonator, 3-inch downpipe/elbow, and the car is really loud. I don't have the Tanabe (N1), but if you remove everything it will be louder. It does get annoying at times though.

Although removng the resonator will make the exhaust louder, your Tanabe exhaust will sound less sophisticated/refined. You will have issues with droning.

I'm not sure if Tanabe has a straight through resonator, but if it doesn't replacing it with one would be a better idea.

What I did was use a chambered exhaust resonator, usually found on muscle cars. The results....the PowerStick added, what I can only describe as a rolling affect on the exhaust note. It was slightly louder and reduced the droning from my Greddy SP.

Let your Tanabe as it is... it sounds fine and noticable enough from outside @WOT :D

Here are two soundfiles of my car:

flyby, second run on the rev limiter

flyby

fooling around a little bit

fooling around a bit

Exhaust Sound regarding mods:

3" Downpipe
Stock Cat
Stock Turbo
Tanabe SHM

with my SP61GT and 3" race cat it`s VERY loud now. Hardly on the limit in my opinion but no other option for a quieter 3" exhaust...
