/\ unless you run some sort of restrictor or filter. i know ive had issues with my -3 line on my sp61gt leading to multiple turbo failures.

John I had a question for you. How about a catch can venting to the atmo? I currently have my valve covers doing a 2->1 to a catch can and then a filter on the other side vented to the atmo. whats your input on this as i have seen several people running similiar.

THat is a no-no. The catch can must be vacuum supplied.

Does anyone know what size hose would be ideal off the turbo inlet for a vac source? with individual 1/2" lines from the valve covers, and a 5/8" line directly off the block, will a 1/2" line pull enough vac, or should I go with a 5/8" line?

man this thread kinda got off topic but i have a few more q's.... sorry man!

where would be a good place to grab vac from? i went with a catch can specifically to keep my intake tract clean. Where else could we tap for vac?

LOL thats what the threads here for!

I want to keep my intake clean too.. but pre-turbo is the best place.. because the more the RPM's increase, the more vac's going to be pulled.. as more blowby is produced.

Other option is an eletric pump, but:
-could fail, and clog the PVC system
-could fail to pull enough vac at higher boost/rpm's.

Another option is pulley driven pump, but:
-PITA to hookup a system properly, pulley size to adjust vac would also be a pain.

And the last option as used on most race cars is using a exhaust driven vacuum with a one way check valve.

Very popular on the big V8 machines.

But to answer the first question, the catch can if designed correctly is there to keep your intake clean.
