Sorry, had it in my mind that they hit the limiter at 6200.

Even then, it is still possible, I can't think of a single reason why revving it any higher (to the limiter) would cause such an issue that the OP is looking to get a limiter fitted, or contributes the fact that his motor has survived such abuse because it isn't taken above 6k.

This is all new to me. I had a 1JZ in my last car. I'm used to be able to rev :naughty:.

well it may not be an issue. It may be just fine reving to 6500 or 6700, we don't know. But I can tell you that we run with several other supras, all of whom have BHG, and more severe engine damage, and all of em are constantly bouncing the motor off the factory limiter. there are some teams that blow a HG every race, in the meantime, we stay at 6000 rpm, and the car has been perfect through 13 races now - and thats 14 - 17 hours per race. In a 40 minute or an hour sprint race, it's probably not an issue. in an endurance race, our experience and intuition tell us it is a big factor in getting the longevity out of the car. That may be completely wrong, we will never know, but at the end of a race, we are still running strong, and 2 or 3 other supras are smoking and coughing and boiling over! So we really don't think it's a good idea to change what we do. I was just looking for a mechanical way to limit somebody we don't necisarily know or trust!

That might not be a bad idea. Wouldn't be hard to setup data logging and would be useful if you run in to legitimate problems down the road.

I'd say if it works, don't fix it. In other words... well, you get the point. If it's worked this long, ESPECIALLY at those kinds of conditions, I'd say stick to it.

Have the Driver sign a contract if he grenades an engine through abuse he replaces it then hide a logger in the car to keep an eye on him.
Is logging equipment part of Lemons budget, or would it be considered safety/optional equipment? Sorry, not terribly familiar with the rules of Lemons.
