Sure, let's tell everyone to get $2K set of wheels to put on their cars that are worth $2K :icon_roll

Come on Poodles.... I am surprised by your answer. Any car, with the exception of rare exotics or classic American muscle cars, is going to go down in value. Owning a Supra is a hobby that shouldn’t have any investment connotation linked with it. Maybe an original, low mileage Supra but even that would require a "special" buyer or collector. I see nothing wrong with putting 2k rims on a MKIII. That is the nature of these cars; thus, they have rightfully been deemed "money pits".

i don't mind the enkeis, i was going to look at the evo5s way back when but i'd kill for some of the wheels on RB right now. Anything by stern or toms (like these http://www.rbwheels.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=17_21_23&products_id=2604) would be cool as hell.
Those wheels are sexy as hell, but not in that offset. They sell them in a 17x9 +29(i think, it's in the 20's anyway) They fit perfectly.
You've got the right idea anyway, used REAL wheels are much better than the new junk wheels now. In hindsight I should have bought real JDM wheels instead of the Rota's but I got the Rota's cheap, and they look the part. For the Supra, no questions, real wheels wins hands down. New Enkei's aren't "real" btw.

Well, I'll tell you the one's on my Subaru, 17x7.5 Rota D2. The aluminum is really thick, and they are durable, but heavy. Mine weigh about 25lbs each. :aigo:
They are well made, however.

As for weight comparison, i have 18x10 meisters and they weight about 19-20lbs each.

Agreed. My RPF1 RC's in 18x10 are about 19-20lbs as well.
Weight wasn't an issue for that car as it's slow and there's no helping it. lol

Im goin 17 inch Rota's D2, Seems like they caught my eye the most and not as pricey lol.

http://www.racinglab.com/rowhd21754.html

The width i could go on them for 17 inches is 8.5, they make 7.5 width also, Should I just go 8.5 wide for front and rear, or 7.5 wide for front and 8.5 for rear
I have 18x8F and 18x9R rota d2's. They're pretty well made and look pretty good too

The thing I like about RB is that I've seen almost none of their wheels on anyone's car (save the Stern and a few other popular ones).

Enkei makes OEM wheels, so they're indeed "real."

Regardless, it's your money. You can spend $2K on wheels but if the rest of the car isn't up to the standard you look like just another retard in a shitbox with wheels...

I would argue that most of the wheels in Enkei's 09 race lineup are able to be labeled "real". And if that fails:

Of course there are notable exceptions, but for the most part, Enkei's lineup consists of FWD offset ugly wheels.
Compare their lineup today with their lineup years ago. They had many more quality wheels then, but as it goes, people wanted cheap wheels, so they got them. Don't get me wrong, I love Enkei wheels, I own a set of RPF1 RC's, but other than the "R" wheels, they're junk for the most part.

I don't understand how people can easily spend over 2k on their engine but feel that spending 2k on wheels is ludacris. And as far as Enkeis go, RPF1's are extremely strong and lightweight. Go to any track event and you'll most likely see atleast one car with them. I'm also a big fan of Enkei's new wheel, the PF01. It's very similar to Work CR Kais but much cheaper. But no sacrifice in quality.

I always laugh when I see Supras with thousands of dollars put into the engine while the car is sitting on cheap, crappy, knockoff wheels with crappy suspension, faded paint, and nothing done on the exterior except for a front lip.

Agreed. I like their Gravel and Tarmac selections too, wish I had a Subaru to put some on.

22lbs for a sawblade.

Id rather spend 2k+ on real wheels than break a fake wheel and have to buy another one.

projectsupra: Nope, definitely can't blame them. They do run a business after all. Those wheels are definitely nice, but proves my statement about their "R" wheels. Those are all incredibly nice. RP01, RPF1, RC-T4, etc.

smokem: Definitely post pics when you decide to buy them. I'd love to see them on a black a70, and go for the 17x8 and 17x9. The wider ones look much better and that size is more fitting to the MK3.

I'm going to have to disagree. The D2's on my Subaru are "fake", but I paid just under $500 shipped, including center caps and Muteki Lug Nuts.

Driving up I-95 through Connecticut last year on my way home from New Jersey, my brother was driving and didn't notice the cobblestone in the middle of the highway. We hit it, hard.

I was glad I went for the heavy Rota's at that point. The wheel is bent, and the lip is scuffed, but the wheel holds air and if it were any lightweight "real" wheel, it would have destroyed it.

I still haven't replaced it, don't really see the point, I got a new tire because it sliced the one that was on there pretty bad, but my only plan for that wheel is to put it on the RH rear where I don't look at it so much. haha

When the time comes, I'll search out another one, but from what I understand, the size I have is no more, so I guess I'll deal with it.

If you bent a Rota but it still held air, a "quality wheel" would not have bent.

There is no denying Rota and other "budget" wheel brands have poor quality, and are not near as strong as high quality wheels. "lightweight" QUALITY wheels are not light just from removing material. They are lightweight from removing material in key locations, as well as the ability to remove material by using a much stronger grain structure. An 18 lbs Volk is MUCH MUCH stronger than an 18lbs Rota. It's much stronger than a 26 lbs Rota.

you bought a wheel to save a buck, and are now driving on a bent wheel. good job

THis hate is retarded. Especially on Japanese wheels they have standards that all wheels must achieve meaning that even the cheap wheels are good. More than likely the "real" wheel would have bent too.

They're WHEELS, having rare wheels is really cool until you get in a wreck or bend one (SHIT HAPPENS). Ask IJ what he thinks about wheels...
