ya, for all you guys who were participating in my last thread, i thought i had a rod knock...i guess its just lifters....any advice on this particular problem?

same thing happend to the matrix. turns out that wasnt the only problem. one of the bolts that holds the piston to the cam wasnt tightened like it was supposed to be, so they pretty much rebuilt a stock engine.
:stickpoke this engine doesnt have lifters. Look up valve adjustment in the TSRM to solve all your problems

i dunno, thats what i heard from the guy at the dealer. its the bolt/screw that holds the circular part of the rod or what ever to the cam. as you can tell i dont know jack shit about engines.
7M's don't use lifters...this engine has dual overhead cams (DOHC) and uses shims.

it's doesn't have lifters, it has shims! I have the same issue with my MKIII.
The hole that allows the valve to pump up with oil was clogged, because my oil hadn't been changed in prolly years, so the valve wasn't lifting.
