Just wanted to know if anyone has qualified their car as being in a historical or collectors class?? in ohio the car has to be over 25 years old for historical, and it doesn't say too much about collectors plates. Anyone have some info. on this? thanks

Ok, so after reading that top thread it says that your insurance company gives you the forms for the plates, by what I was reading on Ohio policy it says I have to have a letter from my manufacturer for collectors plates
http://bmv.ohio.gov/vehicle_registration/collector_plates.htm
and it doesn't really say much on the historical plates

has anyone had experience with ohio plates?

I think having classic plates would be nice, but as far as insurance goes, its cheap as it is. My insurance company actually told me to only get liability because the car is old and they can only cover so much because of its value. So, there would be no point in throwing $1000 per year to a car that they will only cover say up to 3000. If you went 5 years playing this amount, youre paying more than its worth and this is money you ould have saved. So I only pay $400 per year. If its totalled, its done unless I want to throw more money towards the car.

Agreed^^^^. I cant afford anything more than liability and it would be pointless for me to have it. They will only pay out so much for an 18 yo, mass produced sports car. If you are worried about it...set that money aside. If you do get in a crash you would probably have enough to buy a new car and swap over your mods. Just my 2 cents.

I searched around for this and it seems that most of the places that offer classical insurance require the driver to have like 5 years of driving experience. That would disqualify us from getting classic plates, but check with your current insurance company to find out more info on it.
