Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration.

Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely.

Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let's say I break into your house.

Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave.

But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry
and swept the floors; I've done all the things you don't like to do.

I'm hard-working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan, let me eat all the food in your fridge, educate my kids, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part).

If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there. Heck, I might even ask them to stay in your house since you made so much trouble for me in the first place (even though I did break in, they probably will too).

It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself.

I'm hard-working and honest, um, except for well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me!!

I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice, racist and being an anti-housebreaker.

Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me.

Then my friends are going to do the same thing to all your neighbors. Soon you will move out of your house, and I get it.

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?!

Only in America....

I put two in your chest and in one in your head. Same policy should be instituted at the border.

isnt it great to not have to think?

Expand upon that lagged, where's he not thinking?

We are talking about ILLLEGAL immigration and ILLEGAL immigrants, not legal immigration, nor legal immigrants.

These people are, by definition, criminals - plain and simple.

You know, me and some friends were talking the other day.... they should have torn down the Berlin wall, and moved it to the Mexican / American border.

You try and jump it, you get shot. You try and dig under it, you get shot.

You could have chihuahua guard dogs on the mexican side, and pitbullls on the American side.

of course its illegal. there is a severe problem and i agree it has to addressed. i do NOT claim to have any answers. i do not know what the solution should be.

hes not thinking because hes blindly shooting. in the daylight. across the desert.

not in the dark, from your bedroom or kitchen.

get my point?

its not so simple as people love to make it out to be.

that is thoughtless. the same policy should NOT be instituted at the border because its not your fucking house.

you CAN NOT equate this COUNTRY to your own home. of course its a nice comparison but it DOES NOT work in real life.

thats why his statement reveals that he was not thinking.

one final point, i dont care to comment anymore on this issue so im going to leave with one final thought:

i honestly believe there is inherent racism in most if not all of the people who would like to handle the situation in the way OUTOFSTEP and MDC have illustrated.

thats the best thing ive heard about the whole illegal immigration thing. Its true, i agree 100%. we have a similar problem here in canada, not so much with illegal immigrants, but a good majority of them show up, go the the EI (welfare) office, and start collecting money. Money they dont deserve, money from the government, the government who they have never paid taxes to. Its getting out of hand. I am affected every day by racism, im am a 21 year old white male. I have shop owners, fast food workers, gas jockys, all being racist towards me? in my home country? I really like whe Jon said " Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me" Just the other day, i was looking for an address, i could not find the street, which was 124th, the reason i could not find it was becasue i drove by it. I drove by it becasue the sign was writen in East Indian.....

man some people tend to think about why they are coming in. As THomas hobbes would say peopel are born A) greedy and B) with a will to survive. Even darwinism suggests that peopel abandom everythign they have to in order to survive. so what you peopel are basically saying is that they can't be allowed to survive even though the conditiosn of their life back hoem are infact crappy or endangered? sounds like you guys are being greedy and onot willing to help your fellow man...

They may come in if they come in LEGALLY.

Instead of protesting as illegals, they should protest the botched immigration system.

I think he was just saying it's a more thought out problem than just killing them.

This thread is going to get very interesting

some of them simple cannot because they do not and cannot get access to legal documents which would allow them to cross the border... it would be wise to protest about that but it is very difficult to do so because at what point do you cutoff the people under the bar?

I have a solution. Why dont we bring all our nuclear power plants up to full operating capacity...not just that though, lets build some more. Then instead of burying the waste in a mountain in Nevada we bury it along the border, only we dont cover it up so good, let enough leak out to ohhh say...expose a person walking over the top of it with a lethal dose. Now we got cheap power and no immigration problem.

in case you didnt pick up on it -> /sarcasm

i tend to lik MDC's way of thinking.. sure these people may have a great sob story and "deserve" (in their minds) better than average treatment.. but when it coems down to it law is law and they are leeching.. at first when this whole border issue came up i was impartial, but now i agree there should be drastic measures taken to prevent further leeches from entering your country.

They need to start testing nuclear weapons along the border and turn it into a radiation death zone.

I think it is, in fact that simple.

When you disregard the sovereignty of a nation, and cross over it's borders illegally, with intent to disregard that nations laws, you've asked to get shot.

There is a reason why we have passports, visas, customs and border patrols....

If these were people from Iraq or Afghanistan entering the country this way, I'd bet most people wouldn't think twice about it. But for some reason people seem to think our Mexican neighbors to the south deserve some sort of special treatment. Mainly because the perception that Mexico is so poor. It's not...

According to the World Bank, Mexico ranks 13th in the world in regard to GDP and has the fourth largest per capita income in Latin America just after Argentina, Chile and Costa Rica, and it is firmly established as an upper middle-income country. Since the economic crisis of 1994–1995 the country has made an impressive economic recovery. According to the director for Colombia and Mexico of the World Bank, the population below the poverty level has decreased from 24.2% to 17.6% in the general population and from 42% to 27.9% in rural areas from 2000-2004. That's major economic growth folks.

Mexico has a mixed economy that recently entered the trillion dollar class. It contains a mixture of modern and outmoded industry and agriculture, increasingly dominated by the private sector. The number of state-owned enterprises in Mexico has fallen from more than 1,000 in 1982 to fewer than 100 in 2005. Imagine that, you reduce socialisim and people live better...

Mexico has the resources to fix its own problems. It needs to stop trying to leech off it's neighbor and fix it's issues internally.

If Mexico works on gettting rid of corruption it's government and takes care of it's crime problems, it will be in much better shape.

And by the way, Mexico is also the fourth largest oil producer in the world.

We've been married since August 2000 So a little over six years.
Bullshit eh?

***EDIT***
No, just because she is married to me doesn't mean JACK SHIT according to
INS. I et a lot of "you're married, she's just given citizenship, duh!" No she's
