So i was reading all over here and supraforums about how it makes your car run alot worse with bad idle and pretty much loosing boost with open atmosphere bov so i recirculated mine (1g dsm) and now i get less boost i also re did all of my vacuum hoses in the engine bay and the hose that goes to the wastgate actuater broke so i just replaced it. The id of the vaccuum was a little bit smaller in size would this matter? Im only getting close to 4 psi maybe 5 but i was hitting 6 when venting atmosphere.

ALSO my vacuum on my boost gauge is only reading -5 why?! It was 20 then i made a home made mod that was pretty nice sounding on the 1g bov and it was making a flutter noise well after reading i figured out it wasnt letting the air it needed to out and it was surging so i took my mod off and then my vacuum worked its way to -10 and then gradually to -5 and then i recirculated the bov and replaced the vacuum lines thinking that would help and its the same? Bad booster? I dont know? HELP!!!!!! lol thanx guys.

Sounds like you have a vac/boost leak. Need to go round and check all your hoses, what mod did you do to the BOV?? Maybe its leaking now??

No, i used the most expensive stuff we had here at napa ( thats where i work) and i replaced alot of them but whats getting me before i replaced all the vacuum lines the reading was -20 then went to -10 and then when i took the mod off the bov it went to 5 so i understand the bov mod was bad but i fixed it but it should be running at -20 and i dont know where to look because i just replaced all of the vacuum lines, i guess ill check again and re check after tha haha but whats the best way to check for a leak? Any special tricks or just trial and error?

I know its kind of a ghetto mod but i made my own ssq fin if you would say and placed it over the end and it gave me a nice sound venting to the atmosphere but what it was really doing was restricting the air getting out and was surging it back through the intake giving me a pretty tight flutter sound like a bad ass bov but after reading im pretty sure it was just surgin im not 100% sure but it runs alot better recirc so thats my route. On that not does is sound like anything else.....any ideas would be nice Thanx guys

So its official im dumb! :icon_bigg haha I start messing with my boost gauge (which was just installed) and the hhose was kinked in the back so now everything is good , Good thing because i was starting to worry something was going to be really wrong.

on a different note after realizing im a dumbass and fixing the mistake i take it for a test drive and im hitting about hardly any boost in 1st, about 4 psi maybe 5 in 2nd , 5 psi in 3rd and then at higher speeds in 4th a 5th i hit 6psi. Normal or is something not good? Also as i was replacing my hoses and stuff last night i took off my intake and seen that a couple of my fins were like chiped like something got sucked in thier but no shaft play and spins freely and smooth. How much would that effect the power?

Its normal to build more boost in higher gears. Easy explanation: higher gears dont rev out as fast as say, 1st gear so boost has more time to build. As for your turbo, the chipped fins aren't a huge problem but not ideal either. You want to keep monitoring for shaft play since eventually it throws off the balance of the compressor wheel.
