"Because racers put heavy stress on their vehicles, they often burn out or blow up parts. Higbee said the need for the expensive parts has created a “theft mill” where additional cars — usually Hondas or Acuras — are stolen and stripped of the necessary replacements."

Now, as bad as it was that the trucker died... I don't understand why he swerved into a guardrail. Sunday night(well, Monday morning) I was driving through PA on my way back from Indy and saw trains of cars doing well over 100MPH go rocketing by semi's and none of them even flinched. Unless I'm missing something it doesn't seem to add up to me.

car vs semi, semi wins. true, you have to deal with the fact that you just made that car into a tin can, but you are alive and it wasnt your fault.

I couldn't agree more! You said it much more politely then I would have... consider yourself saved foreverpsycotic.

it was said to emphasize the fact the media blows everything out into a big deal, and anytime the news stations can capitalize on someones loss, they milk it dry.

and saved from what? some other persons oppinion about my statement. my hide is a bit thicker than that.

Yes they are crushing cars in Socal. The reason they do this is mindless; it reminds of when the border checkpoints used to confiscate drug runner’s cars back during the Clinton admin. Years later every person that sued the Gov for unreasonable search and seizures won their cases, all the cars had been sold and you and me paid hundreds of millions back to those who sued. So I hope some of the folks that had their cars crushed will SUE the SD Gov and get their money back and then some. As mentioned before why don't they crush every drunk drivers car? Simple most of those who make laws are boozers and drunk drive on a regular basis.
Good Luck:)

How is a modded car anymore dangerous than a stock one as far as potential to cause damage? Maybe they should worry about seizing and crushing old or defective cars that leak flammable fluids profusely.

Very well said. My Supe leaks a few drops here and there, please don't crush her, she means no harm. :nono:

it's idiotic as it's personal property and could be classified as theft when they took it...

they just need to get enough people together and a good lawyer or firm and take this shit out...

I'd like to see them touch my car because it's "modified." It passes inspection so don't even try me...
