planning on switching my climate control colors, but should i go with 5k or 10k mcd intensity, and should i get frosted leds or just the water clear. I know Justin switched his, and the voltage of ~3.0-3.5 should work (worked for him). anyone point me in the right direction with the intensity and bulb type?

I did this with the 10k mcd off of ebay, trust me, they suck. There is a post by IdealSupra that will allow you to order the right LED's. I also went with the water clear ones. My main problem was I kept frying the LED's with the soldering iron. I can say DONT use the ebay ones and get GOOD quality LED's. The ones that did work looked crazy great. Oh and the indicator lights are just plug and play. hope that helps!

can anyone tell me what site IdealSupra used to order the LEDs, or give me a rec. as to what intensity to buy?

just how bright is the 5k mcd compared to the 8k, 10k or even 18k?

The ones in my car are 5k mcd and are too bright IMO. I've gotten used to them over the years but at first they were distracting in direct sunlight with the targa out. Course they weren't ebay specials, a decent quality brand who's name I've forgotten.

Clear, 5k ones.

I don't think you'll have problems with soldering the ebay ones... Use a good hot soldering iron, you'll be just fine!

Clip, I've bought quite a few LEDS from ebay for just this use. The first set I got were 11k blue and they were way too bright for me.....the 5k blue are still plenty bright but not blinding. The yellow/amber ones I got in as 5k are just right. I got the yellows at the first link off ebay and the blues form the second.

The blue at 5k seems alot brighter than the yellow/amber....the links to the two threads I have seen in here are :
