so i'm thinking about getting HIDs. i'm lacking a little of this HID lingo and shit.
here's my questions.

Color Temps (6000K,8000K,etc): my understanding...This is the color of the light and not necesesrily intensity of the light. Different temperatures of light are more usable than others, so i'm looking for something around 6000K white right?

Let's talk bi-xenon vs HI/LO Kit.
My understanding: bi-xenon is one bulb with thing attached to it to change the angle of the light. Is that right? ..and the HI/LO kit is just two bulbs? What are the pros and cons here?

Rewiring headlights. i'm lookin to do a 55W set-up.
I hear i should do it. How hard is it? Am I pulling apart the wiring harnesses here? What do i need. Do these rewire kits work well?

My friend gave me this site and the prices don't look bad, any thoughts?

H4 Bi-Xenon 8000K Integrated Digital Ballast HID Kit
how come this 5000K and the 10000K is more expensive than the 6000K or the 8000K?

is this what I'm lookin for?

4300K is OEM spec, it's brilliant white. As you get higher they change color and light output does go down a bit (because of the way we see). 6000K is a brilliant white light with a bluish tint. Any higher and you're begging for tickets...

3000K is yellow (I have them in my fogs).

Yes, bi-xenon moves the bulb.

Rewire isn't needed with the kit I used as it plugs into one of the headlight connectors as a trigger, and main power wires go directly to the battery.

ah so im looking for 6000Ks then.

so bi-xenon's bulb movement is a better alternative to a high beam than that second bulb in the hi/lo setup i presume?

do you have hella housings?

Yep, I have hella housings.

No way to mount two bulbs in the housing, so you have to run a bi-xenon setup unless you went to a setup with seperate hi and low beams...

I have 4300K (well, I should say had as one bulb burned out and the other one doesn't switch from low beam), and while I was thinking I would have liked 6000K better, the 4300's are good...

If you get a bi-xenon kit you won't need to rewire the headlights (like already previously mentioned).

You will need to do a fog light rewire though...

Personally, I think a TFX projector retrofit into crap ebay housings would be best. But, I digress. :)

(Yes, I did indeed mean to say TFX, Acura TSX clear lenses mated to Infinity FX35 Bixenon projectors) Not sure if it'd fit in the Supra's buckets, though...

That way you could use a true HID bulb, such as the D2S, and not something that's re-based.

why's that? because a bi-xenon kit comes with direct 12v and ground hookups?
i have my foglights rewired already.

my 10k Hid's in a ebay h4 housing...

If you need help wiring up everything let me know. I used two relays(one for the hadlights and one for the foglights) and wired it all up from that.

this was only taken about 20-25 ft. from my garage wall and my driveway slopes down, so the front of the car was aiming high. i rarely got the flashing of bright lights from on coming traffic, but it has happened before.

Yep, the crappy plastic (or glass) housings would not be to reflect the light, but only to house the REAL projector lens.

The FX35 projector housing is just that, the projector housing. The TSX lenses are better lenses for that projector, and fit right on.

You end up with a cutoff like this, while still having Bi-xenon:

The above is the retrofit I'm doing to my M3. :) (but I haven't started yet, that pic is using the hardware I'll be using)

Mine are like noah's ^^

People always bitch and moan about the glare over the cutoff... but a normal DOT sealed beam has MORE glare in that area from what I saw when I did my conversion...

S2K projectors are great, too. The TSX are right behind them, and much easier to find, and a bit cheaper, too.

I recommended the fx35 projector housings because they're bi-xenon, and the TSX lenses because they provide a wider spread. IMO, an OEM retro really is the only way to go, unless you buy brand new projector housings designed for HID's.

IMO, it'd be pretty easy using the FX35 projector housings. If you set the projector housing more forward in the H4 housing, created a shroud for it so it looked good, there would be plenty of room. If I had the extra coin just laying around, I'd build a set.

Keith H. is another good guy to talk to about lighting. :)
